Worth a Visit

Visited as part of the All inclusive Prague tour and received a lot of information about the attraction from the guide. Really knew his stuff and had loads of additional facts

It's such a simple place, compared to the other churches or cathedrals in the city. It even reminded me of one of those countryside little churches. Inside the castle complex too.

Besides St. Vitus, the Prague Castle complex also holds St. George's Basilica. Around the back of St. Vitus, you come into a big courtyard. St. George's Basilica will be facing you with it's bright orange color. Ticket B allowed us in. Unlike the humongous and stunning churches seen in major cities, here it is more subdued, plain and respectful. The... More

The exterior is more interesting than the interior to me and I wouldn't pay to go inside. We visited for a concert and though that was excellent the building is very plain and austere.

Visit to this church is one of the reasons to buy full castle ticket. It is a stunning old building though the colourful baroque façade would never indicate this. The church was originally built in 10th century and inside it has nothing to do with ornate baroque. It rather reminds of old churches of Jerusalem. There is a small altar... More

Nice to look at from the outside. Well restored on the inside - nearly too well, as it looks newer than it is. There are some interesting frescos, but nothing out of the ordinary sauf a grotesque statue in the crypt.

In the castle area this is the simple compared to the cathedral. This is where St Wenceslas grandmother is buried. She was buried here in 925 and there is a painting of her there. Worth a look

Interesting church that is easily overlooked with the other attractions at Prague Castle Complex. Worth a short visit. Buy one ticket for entrance to everything is the best bet, and you swipe your ticket through the turnstiles at the entrance.

It was amazing seeing these buildings in Prague. I loved reading about the history of the Church. I am glad I had a chance to visit.

St. George's Basilica is a little Romanesque church located in the Prague Castle District. Originally founded in the early 10th century, it actually pre-dates the St. Vitus Cathedral. It has a very eye-catching exterior, thanks to its "Rusty Red" Baroque facade (you can see many other buildings with similar facades in Prague and other Czech cities). Inside, I assume (did... More

Staying in Hradcany & Letna

Neighbourhood Profile
Hradcany & Letna
Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.
