Prague Zoological Garden is situated near the center of the Czech capital, in a unique rugged landscape on the bank of the Vltava River. It opened in 1931 and during its existence of more than 80 years it has risen to become one of the most prestigious zoos in the world. Today, it is the second most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic, just after Prague Castle. 4,600 animals and 680 species live in Prague Zoo. You can explore 12 pavilions and 150 exhibits over 58 hectares. The kids will love the Bororo Reserve, chairlift, mini-train, observation tower, paddling pool and Children’s Zoo. The pride of the zoo is its Elephant Valley, home to a sizeable herd of Asian elephants. The Giant Salamander House, where you can see the largest amphibians in the world – the critically endangered Chinese Giant Salamanders – is extraordinary as well; and the African House with an adjacent vast meadow inhabited by herds of antelopes and giraffes is worth your attention, too. However, Prague Zoo also has other interesting places: for instance, the Pavilion of Gorillas with the only breeding family of gorillas in the Czech Republic; Chambal, presenting one of the most endangered species of crocodiles in the world – gharials; or the Indonesian Jungle Pavilion, a giant greenhouse presenting a sample of the South Asian rainforest and its inhabitants.

A beautifully laid out Zoo. We spent six hours here and didn't see everything. Our 4 & 10 year olds loved it. Lots of animals and other attractions such as the chair lift, the observation tower & the Train to fill the day. The entrance...More

This zoo is worth the time. Very relaxed and doesn't seem crowded because of its large size. This is where the locals go on a day off. Not far from town. Don't take taxis waiting there for you as you will be ripped off. They...More

If you're travelling with kids, this is a great day trip. But beware, this zoo is BIG, so it really does take a big part of the day to cover it all. You can go and see some of the more exotic animals also during...More

Beautiful place. We bought a river cruise with the tickets included, 840 czk for two, very good price! Huge, wonderful zoo. We were there for 4 hours but could easily have spent 2-3 additional hours, so take your time. Notice that the zoo has some...More

I should probably begin by stating that we are an animal-mad family! We were somewhat reluctant to visit based on some of the reviews we had read but eventually bit the bullet. So last Sunday morning we left Prague aboard a river cruise boat at...More

Voted the best zoo in Europe and there's nothing to disagree about. Beautiful park, lots of space for the animals, huge playground for the kids and eating/drinking places galore.

No. You view the zebras in their enclosure via a raised walkway so you will be looking down at them. But there is a exhibit in the zoo where you can pet farm animals.

Taxis are a bit of a question mark in Prague. AAA-taxi.cz gives taxi fair estimations. They are one of the registered taxi companies. There is also Uber in Prague.
