From the outside, this church is spectacular and overlooks the Old Town Square, and its beautiful towers can be seen from many viewpoints in the city. However, inside it's quite disappointing in my opinion (in comparison to other churches in the city); it has a beautiful altar, is quite light inside, but there was little else of interest for me.... We only found the Ungelt Square because we were looking for the entrance to the church. There is not much there except a couple of restaurants and gift shops. But it was very peaceful. Head for the church and you can't miss it.

This small courtyard, located next to the Tyn church, is rather lovely, but is somehow overshadowed by the huge church. Still, it's worth a 5-minute visit.

You have to walk around Tyn to stumble upon this little enclave. Plenty of little shops on the corner to cafes and restaurants. One of the interesting hidden gems of Prague’s Old Town.

If not searching purposefully, Ungelt square is very easy to miss, unless you do some passage-diving for fun around Tyn church. This was exactly what I did, exploring various corners. The square is very attractive architecturally and there are several nice shops and restaurants. I especially liked botanical shop and Koh-i-noor shop. In the latter, I even bought myself a... More

This is a secluded and hidden little square behind the main square and close to the landmark Church of Tyn. It contains a smattering of little shops and restaurants with many other streets leading off to different parts of the city.

Ungelt Square is a small square by the Tyn Church. It is secluded and that is part of it's charm. On our most recent visit, we walked through and it felt like a hidden oases in comparison with the impossibly crowded Staromestske Namesti, just steps away. The three architectural gems you want to look for while there: The Granovsky Palace.... More

Our hotel was located in this square. There is an Irish pub located here as well which make it a lively square at night. The restaurants here are nice as well and cheaper than going the 200 meters to the old town square.

Bohemian/gothic surrounding with some forge best people watching. Every side has tons of side streets and alleyways that have great shopping. Mostly touristy stuff but with effort you can find diamonds in the rough. Don't miss it...I don't think you could if you tried.

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
