Top ways to experience Celetná Street
The area
Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

Celetna is a busy street with tourists as it serves as a short cut from Old Town Square to New Town. There are several worthwhile attractions along the street including the Prasna Brana tower, the House of the Black Madonna and around the corner is the Obecni Dum. Historically the street is quite important as it was the processional route during coronations of Czech kings. Nowadays you will find shops, bars and restaurants along the street. However, I didn't find anything unique about the street itself compared to other thoroughfares in Prague.

I walked it several times because the hotel where I was staying was in the Plaza de la República and to get to the center and Plaza Vieja you have to use this street. very cute. Full of businesses and TOURISTS... at times it is impossible to move quickly. but hey, I was one of them!

Walking around that area we found so many older style cars, kinda like in Havana, where these people take you on city tour. It was pretty cool to see all the colorful older style cars, but they seemed a little overpriced.

Celetna is the street that links the old town square to the powder tower. Full of souvenir shops and plenty of places to get some ice cream or Trdelnik. There are plenty of old style houses and buildings to gaze at along this cobbled street. Normally quite packed with tourists and the occasional street seller but if visiting early in the morning or late in the day it is a little quieter.

Celetna Street or Celetná ulice is the lane that connects the Powder Tower to the Old Town Square. It is a pedestrianized street. The name Celetná refers to the plaited bread rolls that used to be baked in Prague during the Middle Ages. This lane was a part of the Royal Route of the Czech kings. It one of the oldest and historically most significant streets of Prague. The Knights Templar used to hold meetings here in At the Temple. Kafka lived and worked here as a lawyer at Pachta Palace. Mozart stayed at inns on this street. You can see many historical houses here like At the Vulture, At the White Lion and At the Three Kings. The house I liked the most is the 1912's House of the Black Madonna which was the first building to be built in the Cubist style.
Tip: Do not buy souvenirs here as they are very very overpriced.

Like many of the busiest streets in big cities this street is full of the souvenir shop selling all kinds of souvenirs at top price. But if you ignore the shops and focus little bit more on the houses surrounding the street, small passages leading you will enjoy it. If you don't expect much than you will enjoy it at most.

It’s a street in the middle of old town with pedestrian zone almost all length along. In fact if you will not raise your head and look at houses from the first floor higher, you will not see how interesting this street is. There are plenty of old and amazing architectural gems, but you need to look for them. If you’re just passing by, it’s definitely nothing interesting at all. Expensive gift shops offering Russian stuff, more or less weird restaurants with the same pricing policy and few regular shops. In fact there is even a theatre along the way.
As a tourist you will probably walk this street in one or the other direction, but keep on mind, that those expensive and stupid shops are simply not the best it can offer.

It is one of the oldest street and it is between Powder gate and old town square. Part of it is pedestrian only and when you get to the gate it is a normal street. Nevertheless, you are here to enjoy the architecture and your walk to the old town square. Don’t miss the authentic shops along the streets.

This street connects Old Town Square with the Powder Gate.
If you read any guide book it will highlight the key buildings along this Royal Route e.g. The Knights Templar used to hold meetings at the Temple at No 27. The palace at 36 was the former headquarters of the Prague Military Commandment.
There are many n varied shops operating along the street today but make sure you also appreciate the architecture.
