Beautifully lit at night and right near the impressive Powder Tower and Municipal Town Hall. Had a fun little Christmas market that opened up late and closed early.

The view from Republic Square. Republic Square borders Old Town and New Town. Two large modern shopping malls dominate the square, the Palladium and Kotva, acting as the high street of Prague. In this square stands the Municipal House with its Smetana Concert Hall. Around the corner from the Municipal House stands an imposing tower, the Powder Gate. Part of... More

This nice area is near the main touristic places (therefore, a crowded region), has cool buildings and a cool atmosphere. Having a beer in one of its bars is an experience one should definitely have.

Right next to the tram stop and metro station of the same name, it is a very busy square which hosts many shopping and dining options. Definitely worth checking out if you are in Prague, and you can walk a few minutes to the Vltava river and have a pleasant riverside stroll.

From the name of a train stop and tram stop the area has kind of adopted its own identity. The square now is mostly pedestrian other than the tram lines that pass thru, and is famous for outdoor markets, entertainment and restaurants with outside seating. It is a festive area and home to Municipal House, Powder Tower, some great old... More

Not as busy as Old Town Square but still a lot going on here between people heading to/from the metro and/or the tram. The Palladium shopping centre is here and there are multiple street vendors trading from sheds on the square.

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
