    Huge and impressive
Of the many churches we visited in Prague, this one is particularly stunning and well worth the journey. It has five naves and stunning buttresses. Also worth climbing the spiral staircase to view the huge organ

Well worth the effort to get there, and takes a full day
This is an amazing Cathedral with a crazy ancient history. We had been in Prague for two weeks looking at many churches, basilicas and cathedrals, so we were unsure if it was going to be worth the all-day trip including train rides just to see one more. It was. The Cathedral itself is quite incredible, but the history of events over hundreds of years was mind boggling. I am surprised the Cathedral was actually finished; given what happened. Allow plenty of time if you want to read all the information boards. I photographed them all and read them later, but I recommend you read the brochure you get at the ticket office, as you go around. It is really useful. There is mainly coffee and the donut things at the actual cathedral, but if you walk down into the built up area, there are several cafes and restaurants to choose from. There are several buses that go from the train station past the Cathedral, and you pay on the bus. When you come back to the station, it is tricky to ensure you are catching the correct train back to Prague, so allow yourself plenty of time, as it may be the platform on the far side that you need to be on. We wanted to buy tickets but found nowhere to buy them, and there was no ticket inspectors on the train, so it was a free ride for us. By the way, the bone chapel is at Sedlec some distance away, so if you want to do both, and get the last express train back, (before a long wait till the next one), you need to leave Prague early; say about 9:30 am.

    Beautiful gothic cathedral
Beautiful cathedral/church dedicated to the miners. Quite unique, especially since it is not a cathedral at all, but is called that way by her habitats. A lot of pictures and busts of ordinary people inside its walls and among decorations.

A fabulous visit to St Barbara's Cathedral in Kunta Hora
My wife and I took the train from Prague to Kunta Hora specifically to see the Cathedral of St Barbara. We had read extensively about the church and had seen photos on line and in print, but in person, the church exceeded our already high expectations. The path leading to the cathedral is lined by large statues of saints important to the Czech and universal church. They are a beautiful enhancement to the area around the sanctuary. Once we arrived at the cathedral and bought our tickets, we found that there was an online interactive guide to viewing the cathedral which provided a wealthy of information about the history of the church, and the artists and donors involved, down to small details. A visitor could easily spend several hours to see the church in detail. (We spend a much longer period than we thought we would, effectively making it impossible to see other attractions in the city before we caught our return train to Prague. I was well worth the time we spent at the church, however, and we will return to the beautiful town on our next trip to Prague.) We would have loved visiting the church even if there were not any information available other than our guide book, but the interactive guide really gave us a sense for the history of the place and the role it has played in the town over the ceturies. The cathedral also has a small souvenier shop with very competitive prices. A free standing information booth is near the entrance to the cathedral. If I could have rated this a five star plus, I would have!

Must place to visit if in Kutna Hora Czech Republic.
This Cathedral was began in 1388 and completed sometime in the 15th century. It is amazing. Huge. Beautiful. Not a ruin but you would think it was not very old. About 4 dollars to get in. You can purchase tickets that include two Cathedrals and the Silver mines and the bone church. That is the best deal rather than individual tickets. You can take pictures everywhere except the bone church with no flash. We walked to everywhere from our hotel in town except the bone church. But it was only a two minute drive.

    Outstanding
This is the main draw for Kutna Hora. We walked up from Sedlec, which was a good 20mins but the local bus can also be taken for Kc20. The architecture is outstanding and the stained glass windows and various shrines/altars are very impressive. Climbing up to the gallery, you can get a different view of the grand organ and read the informative panels that detail the history and stages of building, as well as see out to appreciate the buttressing. All in all, highly recommended.

Came here on a day trip on the train from Prague (about 50mins). You walk down a statue lined road to the cathedral with great views into the valley. The cathedral is very impressive from the outside with some fantastic architecture, great photo opportunities and great views of the town and valley. You have to pay to enter and the inside is just as impressive and photos can be taken. There are stairs to the upper level and a small balcony. Very pleased we took the time to visit!

Construction of the church began in 1380's and was finished in 1905, after more than 500 years. But you are right, it's gorgeous. Thank you for your visit.

Many who come to Kutna Hora only look at the Sedlec Ossuary, but the church of St Barbara is definitely worth seeing as well. It has an unusual roof structure that can be viewed from the outside. The inside of the church has some impressive stained glass windows and many murals from various eras of the church on the walls. It is worth seeing.

Large church grounds and a beautiful church. Make sure to walk around inside and out. Statues line the walkway, and uphill from the church has a lot of art installations to check out.
Inside of the Gothic Style church take time to sit in a pew and absorb the beauty. You can walk throughout including up the stairs for a view below. Nice gift shop inside the church with reasonably priced gifts.
About 45 minutes to an hour to visit.

St. Barbara's Cathedral in Kutná Hora is a spectacularly designed church building. Construction of the cathedral began around 1380 under the direction of the famous German-Bohemian architect and sculptor Peter Parler (1333-1399). He also designed St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague and the Prague Charles Bridge over the Vltava. The cathedral of Kutná Hora was "of course" dedicated to Saint Barbara, because she is the patron saint of, among other things, the miners ... Kutná Hora was the center of silver mining in the Middle Ages and therefore, together with Prague, the most important city in Bohemia. The construction of the St. Barbara's Cathedral proceeded in fits and starts.. in the 15th century construction came to a standstill due to the Hussite Wars, in the 16th century construction stopped due to a lack of money. The construction of the church was not completed until the early 20th century. St. Barbara is considered the highlight of the Bohemian Gothic style. However, the interior is mainly in Baroque and Renaissance style. The vertical construction of the church, accentuated by the three high tent roofs (symbolizing three hills around the town), as well as the special external flying buttresses resting on high pillars make the church very special and graceful. The location, on a plateau above the city, also gives the church something mysterious... from a distance it looks like a kind of flying saucer. As for the interior, pay particular attention to the beautiful Renaissance-style pulpit and the remains of painting on the pillars. The late medieval frescoes still present here and there in the chapels and at the back of the nave are also special... some refer to the silver mining that was once so important to the town. Several high windows appear to be made of stained glass, but were only painted at the beginning of the 20th century, which is also clear from the images, including those of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Beautiful church, especially the exterior!!!

The view walking up to the Cathedral from old Kutna Hora is jaw dropping enough and once inside the space is simply beautiful.
It is good to go up the stairs to the gallery for more excellent views.
I would like to know why a lobster appears across the sun in one of the paintings so if anyone has any idea, do let me know!
I'd recommend a visit and would definitely return.

This cathedral is absolutely gorgeous, and they have a fantastic, lengthy audio tour that is well worth your time, they really go into detail on the beautiful paintings and stained glass windows around the main altar.
It's a stunning cathedral, with so much history throughout. If you're making your way to Kutna Hora, don't miss St. Barbara's!

The hidden staircase that leads to an excellent view of the organ and then further to a nice overlook of the town. Was our favorite part. The organ is topped by a full orchestra played by golden cherubs with the conductor shoved off to the side...ignored. Priceless! Plan on spending an hour here.

St. Barbara’s Cathedral is truely a wonder to behold. It rises above all else in Kutna Hora and its flying buttresses are a pinnacle example of gothic architecture. The church is massive and even more impressive is that this church was supposed to be even larger! The inside of the church is equally impress with both amazing stone carvings and fantatic stained glass windows. Make sure you visit the gallery on the second floor overlooking the naive to get a true feeling of the size of this property. Definitely a must see.
