Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Hot Spring Colonnade was built over the Hot Spring Geyser. The original colonnade was built in the 1820s and replaced by a cast iron building in 1879. The current glass structure was built in 1975. The geyser rises over 39 feet high.

Do not book a coach trip here, GO BY TRAIN FROM PRAGUE. Its easy and much much cheaper. The train ( bound for Cheb ), follows the Vltava River for the first hour giving you fantastic views all the way to Usti where it will then start to climb up to K.V. travelling through farmland, open cast coalmines, past many power stations before heading into the hills on to border with and close to Germany. K.V. is twinned with Baden Baden. From the station ( there is a map )you can walk for 10 mins or catch the bus to the Info Centre along the street Masaryka to pick up a map. From here on walking is the best option. K.V. is the most famous spa town in the Czech Republic which has many 14thC buildings as well as more modern ones from the 19th and 20th C. Apart from its 16 springs, gardens and beautiful colonnades, it has many bars and restaurants. The most famous spring is the Sprudel which can leap up to 12ms. You must buy your K.V. souvenir jug and taste the water. K.V. is also known for its Moser crystal, Carlsbad porcelain and the Czech herb liqueur Becherovka. Tip buy your train ticket from Prague's main station at Hlavni Nadrazi the day before and ask for the times of the trains there and back. ( price £30 return ? coach trip £65 )

This is a lovely and nice little town outside the city of Prague and right into the mountainous region.
When we arrived, we were impressed greatly by its beauty and serenity. Very peaceful and slow pace of life, though a bit touristy. There were lots of lovely and heritage buildings on both sides of the river, with including souvenir and retail shops, cafes, money changers, hotels etc. It seemed that time has stopped or gone slower than usual.
As we walked further in, our guide gave us a good and detailed introduction of the place. Well, this place is well-known for its hot springs, where it was said that by drinking the water from the hot springs could "heal" some health ailments. Also famous for its waffles, made by using the spring water. Well, no harm trying, right?
Well, the spring water had a taste of minerals, probably some iron and magnesium as we tasted it. Many visitors also brought a long bottles to bring the water back for bathing. Some even bought a mug on the spot and collected drinking the water.
As for the waffles, yes, it was good! Very tasty and we got to choose the flavours of the ingredient to be added in like strawberry, chocolate, coffee, coconut etc. It was crispy and yummy! And a number of our tour group mates had their coffee breaks at the cafes, enjoying nice coffee over the beautiful scenery.
There was also a big water fountain with bursting water that gushed out and went up high into the sky! Gorgeous.
Then we came further in and saw statue of a king made of sand and in its surrounding, lovely flowers. We were deeply immersed into this environment and loved it. At the time, the rain had stopped with sun coming out and thus less cold than when we arrived.
Well, if you are planning to buy souvenirs here, do check out the prices first as most shops were actually selling "me too" products but their prices could differ. But if you are not in a hurry into buying them, perhaps you can consider buying them at the Old Town as prices there were generally lower than here because most visitors who come here are generally foreign visitors and since its touristy, prices are higher.
A nice visit for us to see and experience another aspect of Czech in terms of culture, lifestyle and history!

This building was completed in 1975 and is hideous. And I write it like a native. It definitely does not fit into its surroundings (Mary Magdalena Church). I am attaching a photo of the beautiful art nouveau colonnade that stood at this location until 1939.

Karlovy Vary area is a very beautiful place to visit. Not many things to do but it's filled with natural spas and hot springs. Even beer spas. Taking a walk along the path is enough to relax and take in the beautiful scenery of karlovy vary. Its 2.5 hours away from Prague, but a bis5can be taken from Regio students booking stations.

This review seems quite generic.
Let me add my two bits here. I could discover 4 Colonnades here and at least 3 had hot water springs. The first, is constructed out of cast iron and is near the park, the second one is all stone gallery housing at least 7 to i such springs. The third one is a wooden structure with 5 springs and the fourth is a Soviet era abomination that I did not bothe to enter.
The first three are simply mind blowing. I also came across a spring inside the Castle spa where we had booked a 3 hour session.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately now main geyser is closed, so you have just a dull standard concrete structure. Buy a “rusty” rose from the souvenir shop

Nice place to visit and benefit from hot drinking springs. You’d better have a plastic cup with you, otherwise you will have to buy from the local stands...

Within the colonnade there is a geyser and several sources of hot water.
Look at the geyser, which produces water up to 3 meters in height, breathe in the vapors of water mineral. Many people drink water from a variety of sources.
In colonnade you can sit on the benches and relax. We were here in January - on the street is very cool. So we just were basking in the colonnade, which is closed by windows on all sides.
Inside there is a souvenir shops where you can buy mugs. It is also sold waffles that are made on this water.
After midday groups of tourists come by bus - so crowded here during these hours. But in the evening or in the morning there is peace and tranquility.
