Nice place worth a hike!
Sep. 2020 • Family
If you are looking for a hike rewarding you with a nice view over the area you should go there. Don't miss to go up the tower once you have reached the top.

You should find a parking lot here: 48°50'18.9"N, 14°18'23.8"E

From there it is around 5km with an elevation of roundabout 400m. Signs are in place.

Surprising refreshment
Feb. 2020 • Family
The tough climb is definitely worth it. The view of the Alps on one side and a great part of Bohemia on the other is awesome. The restaurant is surprisingly efficient and with tasty dishes/drinks.

360 degree view from lookout tower
Oct. 2019 • Solo
I walked up from the road crossing at Cesky Krumlov railway station, following the green and white stripe trail markings. It took me about 1h45m minutes without stopping. The second half of the walk is on dirt trail and the final 10 minutes is steeper and more rocky.

The view at the peak is obscured by trees, so I paid 50Kc to climb the lookout tower for panoramic views all around. The sky was clear enough to see the Alps in the distance, though they are not distinct enough to photograph, and the weather is probably not often good enough to see them.

I walked a different way back down: following the red and white stripes of the E10 trail to Zlata Koruna, then caught the train back to Cesky Krumlov.

There are other people out walking, but it is very quiet compared to the large numbers of tourists in the town.

Worthwhile hike if time permits
Aug. 2019
If you find yourself in Cesky Krumlov and want to take a break from the in-town sightseeing and crowds, this moderate half-day hike is well worth it! I did the hike on relatively hot/humid Sunday in late August and the small restaurant on top was open so a great opportunity to grab a quick lunch and cold drinks. The Klobasa I ordered was deer sausage and quite tasty and went well with the local Czech beer.

As to the hike, here is my experience:
1. The hike took about 4 hours, just under 2 hours uphill and about 1.5 downhill with a half hour lunch break. It was about an 11 mile round trip hike from the Cesky Krumlov town square. There was very little foot traffic on the hike, so it was mostly solitude.
2. Most of the hike is on paved road, then gravel road, and finally about the last 1.5 miles being through the woods on a wooded, dirt forest trail. The last few miles of the hike are very steep and probably not something you want to do after it has rained as would be slippery.
3. As mentioned in an earlier post, the starting point where you start seeing the trail markers (green strip between two white stripes) is just after the train station. Once you start seeing them (there are sufficient numbers to keep you from getting lost and at every decision point such as right or left), just follow them and they will guide you through any forks in the trail or turns all the way up to the backside of the facility on top of Klet Mountain. Also, follow any large arrows you will encounter and they are usually accompanied by a trail marker to verify that is what it is for. Prior to the train station, you will not see much directional info, if any at all. The Tourist Info office in the town square can provide a map of the trail route, but it is really only useful for the twists and turns as the trail markings are all you need.

Nice view

Half hour by car from Cesky Krumlov. You can reach the summit with chair-lift or by walk. There is a lookout tower at the top. If you look out from the top when the weather is clear, you’ll see a large part of the Šumava and some peaks in the Alps

Great coffee stop

We visited the tower Resturant for coffee and cake. Best coffee I’ve had since leaving Australia. The strudel, apple and poppy seed, was gorgeous. Worth the drive.

Wonderful view

Wonderful views of the surrounding area, during good, clear visibility, the Alps can be seen. You can use one-chair lift to get to the top of the mountain.

Poorly signed
Sep. 2018 • Couples
We made multiple attempts to find the trailhead....and locate the small parking lot our hotel receptionist described for us....but no luck. I know others have said the "white-green-white" markings were clear, but that wasn't our experience. We drove around and around, but never found it. I guess we're spoiled where we live and trails are marked much clearer.

Worth hiking
Aug. 2018 • Couples
My partner and I hiked from the info centre in Cesky Krumlov all the way to the top look out and restaurant on Mount Klet'. Took us at least half a day and quite a few rest stops along the way. Easy - Moderate difficulty, most of the incline is gradual, a few spots quite steep. Very well signed with white+green stripes on trees/fences etc the whole way along and back down. Felt accomplished when we reached the top and had a great schnitzel + beers in the restaurant before heading back down.

Great Chair Lift
Aug. 2018 • Family
The chair lifts were a lot of fun and good value for a family of four. The ride lasts 20 mins. Children under six and/or under 25cm need to ride on an adults lap. Health and safety doesn’t seem to be of much interest. The bar loosely locks into place and you’re not ‘that far’ off the ground. It’s a lovely peaceful journey to the top. There’s a small cafe at the bottom that is reasonably priced, although there are no toilets.

It’s not the easiest place to find. Drive through the village Krastein to the end of the road where there is a car park. It costs 40kc.

At the top is a restaurant and an viewing tower that cost 50kc for adults and 20kc for children. You can also rent scooters to ride down to the bottom.
