It is a must see if you want to know more about the history of this city. It covers all periods of history since stone age.

An interesting museum with great pre history snd Bronze Age artifacts. All descriptions are in English. Only 60kc entry. Lots of local Czech photos etc from the last 100 years. Very nice ceramic reconstruction of the historic town.

There is a lot of reading here and some other interesting displays. Really affordable and very friendly staff. We learnt a huge amount about the history of the area.

Great Museum; a necessary adjunct to understanding the area
Dec. 2018
Although I have visited Krumlov on several occasions, this was my first visit to the museum (December 2018). It gives a great overview of the history of the area from pre-historic times to the present. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable and there were also free posters! The charming receptionist even gave me a hand made paper snowflake that she had made. An absolutte must see.

A must for history buffs

This was near our hotel so we just popped in thinking that we will finish it within a few minutes.

Surprisingly, loaded with history information about this region, from caveman days. They have all information in English. Lots of photos from olden days. Would be great to see more artifacts though..

A must for history lovers

interesting museum with masses of information

You could spend a full day here if you read every exhibit! I particularly enjoyed the reconstructed historic costumes - lovely to see them as they would have looked when worn. There was a lot of information on the social and cultural organizations and infrastructure (schools, hospitals, clubs) over the years, very well presented. Also a fascinating room on prehistory in the area, and some chilling info on the communist era.

Some interesting gaps - very little on WW2 experiences (although lots on the American liberating forces), very little on the expulsion of Sudeten Germans after the war, nothing that I could find on the Roma population here, even though I have been told that it is a thriving community.

Definitely a good place to visit to get a feel for the history of the area!

This was a pleasant surprise, full of lots of information about the town over the ages. It covers archeology to dress to current events. The top fools is the most interesting with a large model of the town. It is worthwhile to visit and has none of the crowds like the castle and castle treasure museum.

Closed but....

When we arrived the museum was closed for a holiday. But...to the left of the building is a terrace that has a beautiful overlook of the city. Pictures are a must.
