We came back this fall for a second month-long residency near Cesky Krumlov, after loving it in the spring. Both trips, we spent considerable time hiking and bicycling in Sumava National Park. How-to: Get hiking and bicycling maps from the TI in Cesky Krumlov. Check out the train schedule at jizdnirady.idnez.cz. Take an early train from Cesky Krumlov, allowing a... More

Sumava is beautiful but stay away from Turnerova chata. Prices are high and quality of food is rally poor. Ice cream is OK.

I like it so much, here every thing is national, also you can find quality hotels, by the way, don't forget to get meat with you to make your barbican before you come here because here is nothing but the national

We had relaxing time in this beautiful national park. We visited Plešné jezero, which worth to see also from the top of the mountain. I highly recommend to take extra tour to CZ/A border, point is called Plechy, its around 3,5 km, the view is worth the hike.

Short said this park amazed me. We visited it for 4 days and stayed in a pension just above Borova Lada. We drove by care during these days to several places in the park for walks taking around 4 to 5 hours. I must admit that I was amazed parks this size still excisted in central Europe. It's quite, almost... More

We stayed in the park in a very good pension with our own car driving from the Uk. Similar to Austria / Slovenia alpine scenery, meadows and forests. There is the wind damage from the recent hurricane so surprising to see ripped out forests and damaged trees. English details are a bit short on the park. There is a very... More

Place, where my daughters started to bike for longer distances. Villages like Kvilda,Modrava,Srni ,Antygl - are definitely worth visit. Easy asphalt paths make the most parts of Sumava accessible also for wheelchairs or bikers with children carriages.

You can hike for days and days and still be surprised by the beauty of this place. If you are going to Český Krumlov consider visiting Šumava for a day or two - it is just an hour away. But if you have just a day I would suggest you go to Antýgl by car and leave the car at... More

Forget about all the traffic jams and stress. The only thing that can remind you here of this will be ants, still on its way carrying their burdens. If you made some trips to nature in your life, this is what you may seek. Sumava has a lot of to offer. "Wild" forests, stunning viewpoints (if lucky, you can even... More
