I did the Transfagarasan yesterday and today it was the Transalpina. How to choose which is best ? Let's just say they are both fabulous ! The Transalpina has longer more sweeping turns as opposed to U-turns. There are more sweeping views on the Transfagarasan...More

Plan a trip coming from south. This is the best way to see the beauty of this magnificent road. Try to stop and go around to discover all the beauty of the Parang landscapes. Local or foreigner this is "must see" attraction in the summer...More

After Transfagarasan, Transalpina was the next passage! Open more time than Transfagarsan, usually from the 1st of June, is the typical mountain road, less safe than Transfagarasan and with less continuous view of the road, but still gorgeous!

Is a "must see" road (or a "must drive" road). I drove through the clouds (literally!). The landscape is impressive, but few special places where you can stop the car and admire the scenery. From here on top you have the world at your feet....More

This 140km road is very well worth the road-trip. We only travelled up to Oasa Lagul and then took the mountain-road. If you have a 4x4 - take this road as well. It is fun and you can go up to highest meadows of the...More

It is a special experience this road, like "must see"! The road was rehabilitated and offers unforgettable images and panorama of mountains, valley, abyss, also wild animals, specific life! Go for it!

Good drive but excellent views. You are on top of the mountains here and the scenery is breathtaking. Too bad that wintertime is closed off as the scenery would be even more exciting.

Yes, this will be no problem. We've just done the trip in a Lada Niva. You will be down in second gear a lot, but the car should have no problem taking you through the Transalpina! You should take it easy in any car... More
