Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of my favorite places all over the world. If you can feel freedom, go and stay there for a while.

Quite simply a breathtaking view from every angle and I didn’t see any mention of the battle of Trafalgar that took place here in 1805- a landmark moment in world history then- but the British under Admiral Lord Nelson did defeat the combined French and Spanish Fleets

For a place giving its name to one of the most famous and iconic sea battles of all time, the site is a great disappointment for those wanting stories or explanations of that historic time. One desultory plaque on a rock on a roundabout. Spot itself is lovely with great views of beaches and seascape. You have too walk 1km to reach it, past the tat stalls, and parking is a problem.

I drove to Cape Trafalgar and wanted to visit the lighthouse, but decided it was too far away from where I must park the car . I am uncertain that there is much else to see there as it seemed nothing but a nice beach and seaside area. It lies on the Atlantic Side of Tarifa. It is possible to see Morocco from the top of the hill.

Stunning views of the Atlantic. Beautiful sandy beach along with isolated coves for sunbathing and swimming. Be prepared for a long walk to the beach and lighthouse from the car park. Be sure to walk all the way to the lighthouse for the views and consider the history associated with Cape Trafalgar.
The only downside was when we stopped for a snack on the way back to the car and were fleeced for one sandwich and two coffees.

Alright, the lighthouse is not the most exciting thing you will ever do, however, getting there is the good bit and the views spectacular. I set off from Los Canos De Meca - this allows for a 1 hour and 20 minute walk round trip. The coast is spectacular and offers wonderful view up the coast and across the Atlantic. Those are the reasons to go to the lighthouse. When you finally rock up after about 30-40 minutes walk the views from the lighthouse are truly wonderful. If you go in the evening the sun is setting and worth the trip. Of course, the lighthouse has a story too. If you have ever heard of the battle of Trafalgar, Nelsons Column etc. It happened here. A place now associate to the name in my mind. More than juts a square in London now. An actual place (lol).

The site / lighthouse is not well maintained. Obviously the views and the area are very nice but from such historical place would have expected a proper and well signed, documented and maintained site.

Cap Trafalgar. Not a super special light house, yet with a majestic location, overlooking the Atlantic, and where Lord Nelson won his last battle, but lost his life.
An attraction, for a short stop, during a walk between "Zahora" beach and the beach of "Los Canos". A walk of many kilometers of unspoild sandy beach.
Below the light house, a bit towards "Canos", there are some small rocks, as wind shelter, for a small rest (ideally you brought water or a beer, in your back pack, to enjoy here), a place with pristine setting.

Well worth the walk along the beach for the views if nothing else. Went low season so very few people about, truly fabulous views and a place to admire the magnificence of Mother Nature.
