Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place opened up just for us, as we couldn’t get there during opening hours. Lots of art work, paintings etc, and crafts such as scarves, hats, postcards... the lady who opened up was lovely. The only grizzle we might have had was finding the place, there was no signage telling us where the building was, and even when we got there we had no idea that we were at the right building and had to ask someone. Currie council needs to improve its signs for poor tourists who have no idea where to find the things advertised to visit.

I don't know about you, but I've been to so many small-town art galleries, and seen the usual array of earnest, but very amateur artworks being gushed over by very sincere volunteers, and left feeling a little bit embarrassed.
Let me say from the outset that the King Island Cultural Centre is far from one of these. It is, without being overly ebullient, outstanding in general art quality; from hanging prints and lino cuts, to hand-printed silk scarves, jewellery and an array of craft (I usually cringe at the word "craft", but here it is used in a complimentary sense). My wife and I spent time there during our recent vacation on KI, and were blown away by how fine this “fine art was”. We are long-time art collectors, with some of Australia's finest artists hanging on our walls, and regretted that we could not take more of these truly unique, locally-produced works home with us to New Zealand.
The volunteers were extremely helpful, and very welcoming. If you're visiting KI, and you want to see how good the art culture of the island really is, head on down to this place, by Currie harbour, and you will not be disappointed. Excellent, and surprising.

Local art pieces, furniture, pottery and souvenirs (tea towels etc).
Saturday and Sunday there’s a coffee van serving excellent coffee - a magnet for locals the day we visited.

The King Island Cultural Centre appears to be King Island's hub for their creative residents.
You can see work-in-progress, classes and items completed for sale.
There are a couple of exhibition rooms too.
The centre needs donations to help keep them running, so if you visit it, please give generously.
Right next to Currie Harbour, they are across the road from the Crayfish processors and a Mens Shed.
Next door is Heidi's Isle Inspired that can get you the beautiful King Island Beef or Crayfish.

King island culture centre is located at the harbour so it’s pretty easy to find. The centre has interesting local art on display & other crafts. A great place to visit to get the local feel & appreciation of the island.

When travelling, I always seek out little gems like this Cultural Centre. Several rooms filled with assorted art and craft by local talent at good prices. I picked up a lovely hand-printed silk scarf for $63. Definitely worrh a visit.

Located at the car park at the Currie Harbour, this Cultural Centre has a truly amazing collection of Art and Craft. It also has workshops where you can either see works in progress, such as Felting or Paintings, etc. And all works are for sale at reasonable prices...
