Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped at devils elbow, plus several other places. But really, all the look outs are great. It’s much easier if you are driving on the left side of the road to begin with though. Plus safer.

This is a little stop along the Great Ocean Road where there is plenty of parking. There are great views from here.

It was a gorgeous day & the weather was perfect, the slight breeze just enough to take the biting heat out of the Suns rays as they beat down on us from high above. Although it was now Autumn one could be forgiven for thinking we were still enjoying Summer - clear blue sky's, the ocean was a spectacular turquoise and the majestic trees that lined the road made for a beautiful contrast as shafts of light broke through the canopy creating the perfect conditions with which to admire the location referred to as 'Devil's Elbow'.

[ A Hairpin Bend Said To Be The Tightest Turn On All Of The Great Ocean Road ]:

If heading from Melbourne you will find the Devil's Elbow located just under two [2] kilometres from the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch. Built on a sea ledge with a sheer cliff face the site certainly is imposing.
Remembering how this entire stretch of road was chipped out with sheer manual labour over a twelve [12] year period, Devil's Elbow more than any other part of the 'Road' to date encouraged us to truly appreciate what an overwhelming feat of engineering & dedication this build was.

[Summary]:
So much more than just "another bend in the road" Devil's Elbow is an interesting place to take a break & stretch your legs. The views are breath-taking & when you have a close look around, it is surprising what you can find, such as beautiful fern trees growing out of the side of the cliff.

The stone Monument & plaque is one of thirteen such Memorials located along the GOR & these allow for a captivating glimpse into the past. There is a small shoulder on the side of the road upon which you can park & whilst there is a low fence of sorts it is not complete so we suggest due care is taken at all times!
