Walk with the birds. Jells Park conservation area was an exciting place to watch so many different species of birds, both water and land types. The walking track which encircles the fairly large Jells Lake provides ample viewpoints to watch birds while on the walk. The centre island was a mega nest for Eurasian ibis. Pelicans, Cormorants, ducks, Teele, Swamp hens, Black Swans, Galah, sulphur crested parrots and many others were freely flying around or floating on water. Walking track meandered through the natural forest cover making it very pleasant and comfortable. I was delighted to observe many different grasses in bloom in the conservation area. It looked a fantastic venue for picnicking and family outings.

Was really good!!! we played softball in the great grounds, it was awesome & the weather was perfect. My mum got a bit of hayfever, but I suppose that's something you can't control but overall really positive feedback, would highly recommend 😊

I recently met a girlfriend for brunch and we both thought our meals were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented and we thought it was the best brekkie we have had. We saw the Chef taking a photo of a new addition to the menu and he was so proud to share his description of the dish. His passion for food was most evident.

Jells Park is very large for a suburban reserve and has a wonderful lake together with a few areas of unspoilt native vegetation, including some strands of melaleuca, ironbarks and other eucalypts plus plenty of reeds by teh lake's edge.
I saw numerous birds including aggressive noisy miners, tuneful Australian magpies, eurasian coots and various ducks on the water, many little wattlebirds, a pelican and an Australian white egret, tiny brown thornbills and most enjoyably of all, feeding on the grass were quite a few Eastern rosellas (parrots), corellas, galahs and sulphur crested cockatoos.
The toilets in the dated visitor centre were clean, but need refurbishment.
I did not like the Elm trees and some other introduced species that were in Jells Park: these have no place.
While I'm sure that on weekends it gets busy, one might question why government run Parks Victoria does not undertake more native revegetation. There are far too many open grassy areas that provide a lack of species cover, or protection against feral cats and foxes.
Despite the huge amount of taxation revenue that the current Victorian State Government collects, I did not see a single Parks Victoria ranger anywhere.
Generally where these reserves are run by private sector organisations such as Australian Wildlife Conservancy, they are better managed and the number of native species increases due to predator proof fences being erected.
This has not occurred at Jells Park, so one wonders at night how many feral cats and foxes roam.
It was also most inappropriate to observe dogs being allowed. While they were all on leashes, they are still a disturbance to native fauna and flora, and some owners fail to clean up after their dogs.
The route 754 bus runs about every half hour on weekdays, but only every hour on weekends. It connects at Glen Waverley railway station with Metro trains to and from Richmond and Flinders Street.

Lovely park to visit with our granddaughter because there are lots of places to explore & have fun. Playgrounds & walks to the lake to view the ducks are a fun way to entertain the children with an ice cream to finish the day!

We visited JellPard yesterday and was very disappointed to find there were only two electric BBQ;s for over 1000 people even smaller parks have banks of up to six electric BBQ and the selfish group who got there first with his birthday party had use of both BBQ for the day which resulted in my family going hungry. Not good enough and I will be putting this on facebook and telling people not to bother going unless you bring a picnic

It covers a very big area. Definitely a must for bringing the children. Many different playgrounds in the park. The children won't get bored. They the "Christmas Carols" every year in December.

Our latest visit was for the Monash Carols by Candlelight. It's our favourite local park. Two big playgrounds for the kids. Good trails for bike rides or walks. Good for a picnic on a warm day. Lots of space for kite flying. We have been here on public holidays and weekends, but there seems to always be space to fly a kite or for the kids to run around. We'd buy a coffee as a treat and have a walk with the kids down to the lake. It's bliss.

We are lucky enough to live very close to Jells Park. We love to walk the many tracks to explore nature and wildlife. The playgrounds are fun for my boys and the Farmers Market, while small, is an added bonus. A place full of activity yet quiet and peaceful at the same time.

How long before your party do you advise sending a sentry to secure a spot, having our twin grandsons first birthday at 2 00pm on a Saturday

There are lots of spaces, just go when you are ready

I don't think you can pre book BBQ's. We always send someone ahead to secure a place until we can all get there. Although quite a few BBQ sites are available, the park is very popular - so I suggest securing your spot early. No tents as far as I am aware.
