We had an absolute ball and it was a laugh a minute with the professional crew. We were up close and personal with whales, calves, seals and birds as we sailed the seas. We were also spoilt with great running commentary via microphone so all can hear, and drinks and food snacks. We were encouraged to move around the boat and had all our needs catered for. We were indeed blessed with the sighting of many whales plus a three week old calf who showed off for us. Well worth doing and booking in advance.

Thanks Christine! At least someone thinks the crew is funny! So glad you enjoyed your cruise and watching young Alan getting up to his tricks!

Whales - mamma and her Bub, sea lions, sun fish, sea eagle and stunning scenery. EP cruises were never concerned about sticking to the 2 hr cruise limit but more about providing a best experience no matter how long it took. Couldn’t ask for more. Value for money, great service and the most beautiful place on earth.

Yeah.....the skipper gets a bit excited when he's around the whales and the cruises generally go a bit longer......most people don't complain either. So glad you enjoyed it!

I can't thank the owner/operator of EP Cruises, Rod Keogh, enough for his incredible tourism operation. Rod's enthusiasm and protection for ALL things in the marine world is infectious...thank you, Rod. This year, 2023, has been the most difficult to read in EP Cruises 15 year history of delivering SA's best Southern Right Whale Watching tours. My company, Teague Tours, has brought just under 400 guests to participate with EP Cruises over an 8 year period and despite the "lack" of whales this season, my guests were gob-smacked with Rod's wonderful knowledge and his personal disappointment of the situation. Having wonderful guests myself, who realised the situation (having been updated by myself & Rod), made me feel proud of their acceptance. I cannot rate EP Cruises highly enough and look forward to supporting such a wonderful business in years to come. Brilliant operators need to be supported now and in the future. You're a great man, Rod and your product is seriously A1. Cheers

Fantastic, informative whale watching cruise! We saw 7 pairs of whales (mums & bubs) and a pod of 30-40 dolphins. We also saw the two white calves, Milky Way & Milkshake! The whales were very active and put on a great show for us all. We had an awesome finale seeing the dolphins surfing the waves & interacting with whales. Highly recommended!

This was a bucket list experience on a sunny, but windy day. Once on the boat we cruised along the beach line and were greeted by many whales and their calves. Some calves breached others played with a sea lion and the white whale lay on his back and “exposed” himself. We were also fortunate to view several whales “tail slapping” off in the distance. The skipper calmly manoeuvred his vessel among the whales ensuring all 25 on board got clear views of these beautiful creatures. Rod’s knowledge of whales in Fowlers bay was extensive. Despite the day being windy the experience on the boat was quite smooth. Well worth the fee.

Yes we did see whales. 3 mothers and calves. One was really pushing its head out of the water but stopped as we got closer. The viewing was not rushed. We were given plenty of time simply to observe the whales with lots of facts and detail from our passionate captain. The boat is not crowded so people are able to have comfortable viewing. Most passengers moved around to give everyone the opportunity for good viewing.
However just as memorable is cruising along the opposite side of the bay where we could appreciate the stunning coastline, the seals , the rock crabs etc. it was advertised as a 2 hour cruise but we were out on the bay for 3 full hours. The company takes its Covid responsibilities seriously.

Thanks for your review Kathryn. The tour generally goes a bit longer because the skipper is usually enjoying himself too much to come home on time! Its a win win really!

No Guarantee of seeing whales. Southern Right whales don't leap out of the water, or tail flap. Go to Hervey Bay in QLD for that. Plus on this tour, was seeing dolphins and seals. Go out on calm day if feeling seasick. Not much else to do in Fowlers bay apart from fish and relax. Owners start at their pace. This tour was nearly 3 hours. Great crew and informative.

I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your cruise. Unfortunately 2023 has been the most challenging year in our 15 years of operation. The whales are in exceptionally low numbers nation wide and even the scientists are scratching their heads. But then again, nature is nature and even Harvey Bay operators can’t guarantee whales or interactions. In addition to that, they have humpbacks which have entirely different physiology and behaviours than the rare southern right.

The cruise started slowly as the whales were just “swimming”along, but just as Rod said, they became more active about 11.15am. Excellent to see the baby whales especially, exhibiting their ability to show off! The small white whale, Bandit, reminded me of a child who’d just learned to do “hand stands”! Excellent cruise.
A word of advice though. If you are coming from the west, don’t take the first turn off to Fowlers Bay. Extremely corrugated dirt road and very uncomfortable to drive. Instead take the Fowlers Bay Road exit, not the Coorabie Road one.

5 star reviews well deserved. Informative, fun. loved seeing sea lions and dolphins too. Colours of sky, sea, coastal cliffs and sand dunes stunning, changing constantly. Enjoyed tea and hot chocolate on board.
Were even able to see menus of 2 local lunch spots (not part of EP cruises). Placed order while on boat and had delicious pasta, apple tea cake and excellent coffee waiting for us at Fowlers Bay Kitchen on our return. With water view, on the Esplanade. A few doors to the left, the Kiosk does fantastic fish and chips and you can enjoy it on their waterfront deck (which we did yesterday 👍).
A really memorable cruise in a remote. less touristy, lovely wild place.

I am a massive animal lover and Whales are high up on that list. What amazing creatures, @16m in length, mothers and their new born calf floating just off the shoreline in Fowlers Bay. Can't get much better than that. We have been to the area twice now and hoping to make it back there every 2 years. Saw 9 cow/calf pairs in the bay on the day we visited and it just blew me away, once again. Thanks to Rod, for his passion, calmness and love for these animals that we didn't hesitate to return.
