Founded by the local nobility at the end of the 16th century, the Real Maestranza maintains a horse-riding school and is also the builder of an impressive bullring, in the centre of the romantic town of Ronda, near Malaga and the Costa del Sol. In modern times, the principal activities are devoted to the conservation of its unique historical and artistic heritage. It has gained a deserved reputation for the recovery of archives, works of art, libraries and original documents relating to its history. The bullring is open to the general public all year round and the visit includes the Bullfighting Museum, the Royal Harness Collection and the Antique Firearms Collection.

The oldest bullring in Spain, definitely worth a visit. Under the stands there is a museum of bull fighting and weapons. You are able to walk on the sand of the bullring, and sit in the stands. There are areas in the back showing the...More

Found it facinating, learnt all about Bull Fighting History. You are provided with headset. Very well preserved and well maintained attraction. Inexpensive and you get a real feel for what it's like to be both the Bull and Matador. Highly recommended.

Great place to visit. The bull ring is spectacular on a hot sunny day. You get pretty much unlimited access to the whole facility which is very interesting to walk around.

... but when experiencing this site with its cult status at around 6.30 p.m., only a few people there and experience such a very special colourful sunshine, incredible touching. And no blood on the sand.

Great to take a look up close. We got to Ronda late due to a trip to Gibraltar first, so missed a tour. Still, we had a chance to see and uncover its history. Bullfighting is a very conflictive topic now in Spain, but the...More

We were surprised at just how interesting the bull ring was! 7 euros to get in, plus 1.5e if you want the audio guide, (which you don't really need, as there are many pictorial boards explaining the history in both Spanish and English). Allow an...More
