When “New Bridge” construction started in 1759—18 years before American colonists kicked British butt☺—Plaza de España was merely a staging ground for construction materials on that side of Rio Guadalevín. I do not support the idea of bullfighting so did not pay to visit the bullring. However, the Plaza is colourful, has lovely gardens and access to the walks and views. There are lots of restaurants and bars and souvenir shops in the area.
