About
As a monumental complex unique for its historical interest and its key role in the conquest of the Nasrid Kingdom. It comprises three elements: the 14th century water mine (the best conserved structure of its type in Andalusia), the neo-Mudejar House (now being restored) and Forestier’s garden.

- Claude MVence, France967 contributionsOverpriced but uniqueWe toured this place as part of a bike tour where we spent 2 days in Ronda. I enjoyed the visit, limited to the gardens and the water mine. However, given what you visit, I think the 10 EUR price is exaggerated and too expensive. It should be half that, to be honest. So in my view it is overpriced for what it is, given that you do not get to tour any case or palace.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 April 2024
- Maureen TTarifa, Spain199 contributionsOver hyped attraction that needs workThis is our second visit so we deserved our disappointment - the potentially beautiful House of Moorish King is still not open and, notwithstanding the several signs indicating it was being renovated, it was clearly derelict and had had no work done on it since our last visit several years ago. The gardens nice but do not justify the e tensive praise given in the signage. Peacocks there are beautiful though. The only unique part is the extraordinary water mine plunge down to the Tajo stream but some seriously dangerous steps the equivalent of a 20 storey descent will put off most. This “attraction” shows all the signs of being a rip-off at Euro 10 per person and the cafe adjacent is also at least 25% more expensive than elsewhere. Whomever owns this place needs some serious encouragement to do betterVisited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 May 2024
- BubsandCoEdinburgh, United Kingdom205 contributionsWatermine, otherwise of limited interest for its entrance feeBuilding still closed up. Gardens modest but pleasant with peacocks and views over the gorge. Watermine and its history fairly unique. If able to and interested in such things, the walk down through the mine to the river and back up is well worthwhile. Otherwise we would agree rather overpriced.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 June 2024

Lots of steps that were wet and slippery. We found out later there was an audio tour included that we were not offered.
The young guy was disinterested in us, as we were leaving he showed much more interest in two young girls trying to talk them into going offering them a big discount.
It was dirty slippery wet and no real story.

When we visited the Casa was not open and did not appear to be open in the near future. The water mine sounded very interesting but was disappointing. You descend 200 steps which are old stone steps and in places wet with water dripping down. The hand rail is also wet and rusting so your hands get very dirty. This is not a safe place and although there is a health warning sign it is not very easily seen until you have entered and paid your money. The signs for toilets lead you to a bar next door where the charge is 1 euro to use the toilet. Admission to the site is 8 euros per person. On the positive side when you get to the bottom you are standing on a jetty on the river looking up at the gorge. Also there is very limited signage to tell you the history of the water mine. Very impressive to seethe gorge from the bottom but is it worth the ticket cost and the risk of slipping on the stairs !

This is not for a house tour because the house is completely dilapidated and you cannot enter it. They charge 8 euros for a view you can see for free and entrance to the mines. The garden is not impressive at all. Very sorry they let this place go.

One of the most interesting things I have seen. The history of the ‘water mine’ is fascinating and you get a real sense of the battle in 1485. Make sure you download the app outside (one between two was fine for us) to get the commentary which all works very well. The gardens and the views therefrom are glorious. Highly recommended and surprised it only gets four blobs on average.

If you're in Ronda this is a must. We walked the small garden, enjoyed the view of the new bridge and mountains, and walked down and up the mine to the canyon floor. A really lovely bit of exercise and it is much cooler in the mine. We were even allowed to bring our two dogs. Perfect way to spend an hour in Ronda.

Take your time, go all the way down, feel the agony of those poor Christian slaves. Absorb the ancient history emanating from the walls and stairs. You do not want to miss this mind-blowing experience. Do take care on those dark slippery stones stairs, but we are 73 and did it, so you can too!

Beautiful place. Especially the walk to the mine but use something on your hands for the handrail as very dirty and rusty. Shame the house is in ruins! Beautiful house crumbling away! Don't have a beer at the cafe as 3 euros for 20cl bottle of estrella! Rip off as said 33cl for 3 euros! My husband combined in spainish and he struggled his shoulders if to so oh well tough doodles! Get a tintoro de verano as 3 euros a better value! Or better still drink elsewhere!

We were very disappointed. The palace must have been wonderful but is a ruin nowadays. I am not sure whether this can be fixed. We have not seen any renovation work going on. The gardens are nice, but rather small, no peacocks around. The walk down to the well is steep and wet, not much to be seen down there. 16 € for two is definitely too much. (The arena costs as much, but is really worth the money.)
It broke my heart to see this formerly beautiful palace falling apart.

Ok, so when you go in it's not a great first impression. The gardens need attention, they need tidying and the fountains need a good clean. You then progress to a walk down the mine, it's a lot of steps so not great for people with mobility issues. We did the audio tour and the history of the mine is very interesting. But when you get to the bottom the views of the gorge are amazing and absolutely worth the trek down.
