The San Blas Islands are beautiful! The turquoise water, the white sand beaches, the palm trees swaying.... absolutely stunning. Take note though, they are not well developed. This is not problem in my mind as they’re not crowded and it limits trash and noise pollution. But it does mean accommodations are very rustic with bathrooms you’d definitely rather avoid. If beautiful destinations are for you... go! If you are a luxury traveler: avoid!…

The place is beautiful, clear water, but try to go no more than two islands.. it takes too much time from one place to the other and you will stay much of the time traveling on boats, and they are not that comfortable

I went there on a day trip from Panama City. I was picked up at 5.15am and we finally got to the port at 9.15am. Onto the boat at 9.30am for a 45 min ride to the first island. 45 minute stop then on the boat to the next island for lunch, stopping for about 20 minutes on a waist deep sandbank to play in the water. After lunch onto the next island for a 40 min stop before arriving back at my hotel at 7.30pm. It is a long day with a lot of travelling. Do not believe the tour operators who say it takes 2 1/2 hours to get there. The islands themselves are lovely to look at but a bit overrated when you are actually on them. Small sandy beaches and clear water for swimming. There was snorkelling on the second island but no fish. Personally do not think it was worth the money.…

We had a terrific time time sailing with Roberto and his crew on his catamaran - Valpar Nautitech 43.5 Pro. Roberto who speaks English, Italian and Spanish has been cruising the San Blas Islands for 15 years so he knows the best islands to visit. His crew was exceptional. The chef prepared all our meals freshly purchased from local fishermen. The first mate accompanied us to all the islands so that we could interact with the locals. We even had the opportunity to meet his young family. Not only is Roberto a very accomplished sailor. He kept us entertained with stories of his youth and seranaded us on his guitar. This was the first time on a catamaran of that size so it took awhile getting used to small bathrooms but each cabin at its own bathroom. There is no air conditioning on the boat but it was not an issue for us as it did cool down at night and there is a small fan in each bedroom. San Blas Islands is truly an amazing place to visit - small sand islandswith unspoiled beauty. I would highly recommend the San Blas Islands and the opportunity to sail with Roberto.…
