Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The cafe here has really nice food and good vegan options. Vegan raspberry muffin was very yummy. It was a treat to see a nice mob of kangaroos on the hill and some little mobs when leaving in the afternoon. Lots of sweet wood duck families too. It’s a good place to stop and take a walk down to the Yarra Trail. There’s a nice old cart on the way down which makes a great spot for a photo.

Only downside it that it is quite run down and unfortunately the playground is rather dangerous due to being overgrown and a lot of rabbit diggings leaving holes for little feet to trip in. My daughter enjoyed it nonetheless!

We stopped here for a lunchtime snack and a cuppa tea. The tart we chose was delicious and yummy. Unfortunately no Wi-Fi which we asked if available.
Upon finishing our snack we visited the toilets on the way out. In the Men’s toilet the urinal appeared not to have been cleaned for ages, it was filthy and stank. There was no running water to wash your hands. The Ladies toilets were not clean although there was running water to wash your hands but nothing to dry them with.

Great spot, love the theme of organic food etc.
I would have thought that a organic business usually tries to live the organic, or total environmental ways.
Non recyclable waxed paper coffee cups with plastic lids seems out of place in such an environment, where the theme is organic/environmental.
I noticed that cakes were served in non reusable cardboard/wooden, but probably recyclable, plates spoons and knives.
If there were reusable cups plates spoons etc, while old school, it would complement the organic/environmental theme and project the point of difference for this business!
And I’m sure the punters would be happy to pay a premium if required!
I would remove the big 240 yellow and green bins at the entrance where people are asked to sort and place their cups plates etc on exit.
A reminder of the amount of waste and how much is not recyclable……not a good final impression!

I was part way through enjoying a delicious beetroot and feta tart, when a magpie launched an attack, stealing part of my tart and clawing my hand. Don’t go if you are scared of birds!

Lovely setting in the orchard, excellent spot off the Yarra trail...however...absolutely filthy and run down. We bought some fruit and a coffee, decided to sit in the rotunda outside (inside/behind plastic was packed...no social distancing!). The rotunda had stacked up plastic chairs and tables which were covered in bird poo, plastic and rubbish was everywhere on the ground too. Such a shame as this place used to have a fantastic reputation. At a time in human history where cleanliness should be at the fore for any business...the food industry should be at the forefront! Very disappointing...clean up guys.
Would also love to see the open grassed area in front of the playground put to better use...spread the chairs and tables out after the bird poo has been washed off.

First came across Petty's Orchard walking on the Yarra trail. It is now open from Wednesday to Sunday. There is lots of space to park and and sit down for a light meal. Just a short walk leads you down to the Yarra trail.
The heritage store sells fresh produce and grocery items. The cafe serves scrumptious treats baked on site and also stock pies sourced from outside. There were freshly picked heritage apples for sale when I visited.

Due to COVID safety There is no table service. Orders are called out when ready and there is lots of space to sit down and enjoy overlooking the orchards.

Loved the green juice and and the apple and cinnamon muffin so full of Apple. Will definitely return.

Called in and got coffee there on our walks, great walking area. Shop has selection of mainly organic vegetables and some normal cafe fare. Huge area of orchard to walk along.

Great spot to sit outside and have a coffee while walking. Delicious cakes.
But we may not return.
We had an issue when another patron allowed her dog to run around offlead even though a sign is clearly posted to say all dogs must be kept on lead. Our dog was on lead and close to us but was harassed by the other dog who was not restrained. We didn’t make a scene but just noted that a sign advised dogs were meant to be on a lead
The Dog owner said she knew the Cafe owners and they would allow her to have her dog run about then she became Loud and ranted about not needing to obey every sign around, we were just ‘rule keepers’, take our dog and go etc etc.

Turned a relaxing time into an uncomfortable situation and we left more quickly than we wanted to.
Will think carefully about going back again with our dog - and as this is our walking path will need to look at other options.

If you have a policy and signage please ensure it is followed!

Love this place. It has some of the best lunch treats of any cafe I have been to. The warmed date slice with cream is enough for 3 people, and soft, sweet and luscious.
