    Not too miss
Went to The Australian Chocolate Farm Tour on our last full day in Port Douglas. Wasn’t sure what to expect when cheerfully greeted by one of the owners, Jenny. Was taken on an informative tour of the farm and the complete process of Chocolate making was explained in an understandable way. At the end of the tour was taken back to the cafe and given different chocolate samples. Not being able to help myself I had to partake in having a chocolate brownie (see photo), it was exquisite. Definitely a place not to miss when up in FNQ.

    First hand view
We had booked a tour but had not expected the owner was the guide. Who better to give the full story of attempting to get a chocolate industry established in Australia than one of the owners - Jenny. Jenny explained the history of the establishment of a cacao farm in Australia and the trials they experienced in this endeavour. After Jenny's tour I fully understand the reason for the expense of chocolate - the farming, harvesting and processing before you get the final product. The final of the tour was the tasting!

    A wonderful hidden gem
We’ve visited this region many times and wondered why we’d never heard of the Australian chocolate farm. Turns out that the cafe only opened last year, but they’ve been growing the cacao beans for several years. What a delightful place! We had coffee and sampled their five chocolate varieties while enjoying a view of their lush farm setting. Meals looked reasonably priced (a bit of a novelty round here), there was room for children to run around and kick a footy on the lawn, and the staff were lovely. Well worth a visit.

A Delicious Journey Through Australia's Chocolate Farm
The Chocolate Factory Farm in Shannonvale in Queensland is an absolute delight for chocolate lovers and curious minds alike. The tour operated by Jenny is both fascinating and educational, offering a comprehensive look at the entire cacao production process. From learning how cacao beans are meticulously grown and harvested to understanding the intricate steps involved in transforming them into delicious chocolate, every moment is engaging and informative. The highlight of the tour is undoubtedly the chocolate tasting session. It’s a true treat for the senses and a testament to the farm’s dedication to chocolate craftsmanship. Adding a personal touch, the homemade cakes and cookies purchased at the cafe after the tour are nothing short of extraordinary. They taste as though they were baked using a cherished family recipe, reminiscent of the kind of cookies you might find in a beloved grandmother's kitchen. This homemade touch makes the experience even more memorable and heartwarming. Overall, the Chocolate Factory Farm is a must-visit destination. The combination of an enlightening tour, exquisite chocolate tasting, and delightful cookies makes for an unforgettable experience that is both delicious and deeply satisfying.

Highly recommend this chocolate farm experience
The Australian chocolate farm is a unique and fabulous experience. A short drive from Port Douglas, you get to experience the workings of a chocolate farm from growing to production. The tour is really interesting, and well worth it - the team at the farm are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. It’s very reasonably priced, especially considering it includes a tasting platter at the end. Highly recommend.

Delicious tasting and light lunch for our family stop off today. The tasting plate was a great way to try and wide range of the very unique chocolates. The farm to plate story is inspiring and we enjoyed seeing the plants and seed pods up close. Also enjoyed some ham and cheese croissants and an iced chocolate which was most welcome in the heat! Chatted with Jenny the owner about the farm and the chocolate but we didn't do the tour. Would definitely recommend stopping in!

Our tour of the chocolate farm was outstanding. We arrived early and treated ourselves to the homemade scones with jam and cream - delicious! Then the owner Jenny showed us around the farm, which was fascinating. The cocoa plant is truly unique and it was so enlightening to learn about the farming and processing of this wonder-plant. The chocolate tasting was a highlight, of course. It's obvious they are deserving of their many international awards in the chocolate world. The whole environment was peaceful and pleasant, and I would recommend it as a spot for just relaxing and having a coffee or bite to eat. Definitely do the tour if you have time, though. 10/10 recommend.

A wonderfully, fascinating experience- Jenny was warm and patient in answering all our questions. We were all enthralled- from 11 years to adulting… and in between. The chocolate was absolutely decadent and sad we can’t purchase beyond. But a treat to be had while we were there and a taste to remember. Thank you.

Found this little hidden gem about 15 mins from Pt Douglas. We didn't do the farm tour but had the best coffee and savoury muffins here. They do the freshest sandwiches/pies/amazing muffins/light lunches (not at Pt Douglas prices!!) Cafe and patio were spotlessly clean. Staff were lovely and no pressure to do tour or buy their amazing chocolate. Had we found this earlier on holiday, we would have returned for lunch at some stage. Website directions were so easy to follow. Would highly recommend.

A last minute decision to visit after picking up a leaflet in Daintree. Got there just before they were due to close and they couldn’t have been more welcoming, allowing us to order some drinks and buy chocolate! The garden is beautiful and the mountain setting is stunning. Our drinks, cake and chocolate were all delicious. Would love to go back and do the tour but we are sadly out of time on our holiday.

Grab an Aussie pie or a fancy pastry or a scone with cream and jam—savoury to sweet—with a side plate of tasting chocolates or two; finish off with an amazingly chocolatey dessert with a coffee or iced chocolate; you will never tire of the different flavours and textures of chocolate to be had at the Australian Chocolate Farm—all incredibly smooth and good for you! Take a tour of the plantation and hear the stories of how cocoa came to be here in Northern Queensland, or meander to the tree line and see the rows upon rows of plants bearing the precious cocoa pods.

Great experience. Jenny provided an informative and interesting tour taking us through the process of cocoa farming, including what worked and what didn't. Generous samples provided within tour cost of different types of chocolate
