Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Khor Rori early South Arabian archaeological site, which has become a UNESCO site spread over a fairly wide area close to what once was an estuary. It is a restored fortified town, at the mouth of Wadi Darbat. Said to have been founded as an outpost and important harbour for the frankincense trade around the 1st century and eventually abandoned throughout the 7th century. Learning about the former transport and protecting strategies was quite interesting

A phenomenal archeological site displaying ruins from an ancient castle and town. Site remains are from 1 CE and more recent. Excellent site and purports to be the ancient site of Queen of Sheba's palace. The ruins are on a beautiful bay. We visited here in the peak of the heat, but it was not unbearable. A visitors center was in process of being built.
Birding alert: there were numerous birds in and near the water below the ruins including flamingos.

The ancient frankincense port of Samharam , more than 2000 years old, is now on the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. Excavations are still ongoing but the already restored two and a half meter tick fortified walls, storehouses and ancient temple gives a good idea of this magnificent town.

This is just a closed access beach with ferocious waves from the ocean. It has some nice cliffs around it and next to it is the archaeological park. Not for swimming, just taking pics. If you are passing by in a 4x4 go for it.

This port alone is worth the holiday in Oman.
The old outpost of the Queen of Sheba dominates in a truly evocative setting.
The archaeological site is well preserved.
The adjacent museum is also good with very interesting explanations about the healing incense tree.
