June 2014 • Couples
Visited Africa Safari Park in June 2014 with my fiance. We travelled from Cairo and it took quite a while, so I'd recommend getting some snacks and definitely some entertainment for any children in your car if you're making the same journey. Halfway there I seriously entertained the idea of turning around and going home because of the traffic, but I am so glad I didn't! This is so much better than Cairo Zoo!
It was really cheap, something like £20 (200 Egyptian pounds) per car! But please be aware that you should tip along the way. (About 50p-£1 (5-10 Egyptian pounds) per animal attraction, depending on what the keepers 'do'). As you drive along the first part is a little confusing, it's not well sign posted but you'll reach the tiger enclosure. If you don't see the tiger don't get disappointed, someone will come along and shout the tigers name and he/she will come and sit down next to the fence for you to take pictures and pose with him/her through the fence. This is the general theme - drive along until you reach gates to a new enclosure, wait a few minutes until the car in front is finished, drive through into the next enclosure when the keepers open the gates and get your camera ready!
There are plenty of animals, tigers, mountain goats (who will be encouraged to jump up onto the car bonnet by the way!), hippos, deer, kangaroos, parrots, bears, monkeys, lions etc. All of the animals seem very well fed (plus the keepers give you food to feed most of the animals to get some great photos), they all also seem very tame - although the tiger, lions, bear and hyena you aren't allowed to touch. You'll be encouraged to wind your windows up in the hyena enclosure and the tiger and lions are kept in their enclosures so you won't be able to touch them.
The keepers all spoke a small amount of English, enough along with some gestures to tell you what to do. My fiance speaks Arabic so we had no issues with the language barrier but it may be slightly difficult otherwise. (Just pay attention to the gestures!).
The only issues I had with the whole park were the lack of toilets until the very end - so go before you get there! All of the shops/cafes/toilets were right at the end of the park, so take plenty of water and some snacks in case you get peckish as it may well take you quite a few hours to get through.
I would have given it 5 stars if there were toilets (even portaloos) along the way.
If given the option, definitely pay the extra (not much at all) for the boat trip. It's just a little boat you hop on with the keeper, go around to a little island inhabited by monkeys and the keeper will give them their food. Brilliant fun as the monkeys all climb aboard the boat with you!
Overall the park was great fun, the keepers will get you to come out of your car and feed most of the animals, as well as getting you to pose with the animals.
As with most tourist attractions in Egypt I believe you should take bottled water, sun screen, snacks, change and hand sanitizer - toilets may be sparse and soap even more so.

This was my second visit to the park, the 1st time was 7 years ago.

This place has the potential to be a much much better attraction, but sadly many things are missing.

The entrance ticket reached 500 EGP for the normal size car regardless the number of occupants inside. It's relatively higher than the value you get from the visit. The variety of animals isn't wide and some animals and birds look really weak and need more care and better nutrition.

The staff is doing a good job, yet you'll always get the feeling that they want to be tipped every time you stop by an animal for taking pictures.. so take as many change as you can. Another thing that I found weird is that you'll asked for 5 EGP if you want to park your car under the sheds next to The Cave area! Why is that?! I've just paid 500 at the gate guys!

However, I can't deny that the kids will love it and definitely they will spend a very good time there.. which makes it worth the hassle after all.

Tip; try you use a car with a high ground clearance, a crossover or an SUV will be better than a normal sedan because of the terrain.

Had so much fun with the kids to see all these animals and feed them. Touring with our own car in a true jungle is one of a kind experience.
Definetly i recommend it for everyone and would love to visit this place again.

Big place, Has everything could be needed But
1- Ticket is 400 L.E does not worth what inside at the moment of visiting
2- Animals seems every weak
3- You have to have small money with you to give for fotos or feed animals
4- all can be seen in one hour.. then if you are from Cairo, you will drive about 160 km to go and the same to return
5- I do not how it is open park and most of animals in caves
6- I did not see much animals which was in the tickets
7- I tried to eat there and the taste was not that nice
8- I see not much different from normal Zoo in Giza, even cheaper, not that long distance driving, and number of animals are more

It should be a fun place. Yet, there can be lots of improvement opportunities to match the large entrance fee. To mention some:
-- The only bathroom is available at the end of the tour and it was so disgusting.
-- There should be more bathrooms spread through out the route.
-- The parking lots around scenery areas are not organized. The flow of cars was really bad at some times.
-- Most of the time we were not allowed to enjoy the animals unless we pay an extra tip to the animal keeper. Considering the entrance fee this should be more organized.
-- There are no shaded resting areas during the tour.
-- The crocodile was missing from its place.
-- There were no giraffes, zebra, elephants !
-- I felt that many of the animals were not treated well.

In summary the children enjoyed it.

We visited with our two young daughters on our way back from Alex to Cairo. The place is really nice with a lot of animals to see. It's not an actual safari park but rather an open zoo. Wild animals in cages and others are loose like Lamas, monkeys, dears, camels etc. Monkeys jumped on our car and into our boat at the end touur, which was real fun. Our older daughter had an amazing day and got to feed a lot of animals and played with them. It's definitely different than the Zoo. I definitely recommend this place for families with young children.
Tips: Wear proper shoes as the place is sandy and full of animal poop.
Take change for tips as the guards are really poor.
Take a lot of water and something to eat for the kids.
Let the children go into the toilet before they enter as the toilets are located at the end of the park.
Be sure that you have enough battery in ur camera as the pix are amazing.

A nice place with good looking animals. the only bad experience we had was the "customer care" through the phone, where you feel like that they want to kick you off the phone.

But the whole experience was awesome, specially when the monkeys jump into the boat to eat & run around you :)

The Restaurant there is nice as well, not bad at all.

A lot of improvements are ofcourse required, but overall, it's a way better than the Giza Zoo

One would think the ticket is too expensive per car but actually it's quite fair. You take the tour inside as many times as you please but you take the river boat ride only once. The animals seem ok. I feared they would be in worse conditions but they seemed well. In some areas you could get out of the car and feed the animals, other parts you'd be taking a huge risk if you dare open the window. There are a few surprises in the tour that would make it worth while. My family really enjoyed it and especialy my 3 year old girl, she kept on talking about that trip for several days non stop to every one. A very nice experience if you are not a harsh critic.
