The 75min trip from Mudgee to Ganguddy is through beautiful countryside and well worth the drive. Kayaking at Ganguddy was fabulous. Easy to manoeuvre and takes you through majestic landscape. You can also kayak to the dam wall and get out for a brief hike to view the overflow. We jumped out for a swim in the swamp which was pristine and felt quite spiritual. We all loved it. I would highly recommend doing this activity.

The mini Bungle Bungles is my name for the wonderfully striated rock forms. The extreme geology is fascinating, and the walks are strenuous but well worthwhile. I intend to camp there one day! I also intend to join in with the swimmers who looked to be having a fine time while we there. As noted the gravel road is corrugated but quite okay for petite cars. In the meantime staying at Rylstone was fine for a short drive to Ganguddy. The fire damage of Dec 2019/Jan 2020 summer was still very visible in October 20, but the epicormic growth of leaves on burnt trunks is a signal of green hope. My curiousity for this area has increased. I will now read up about its formation and its history.

Stunning scenery and enjoyable safe place to try kayaking. A hidden gem. Accessible by 2WD although is a bumpy ride on unsealed roads.
