I've only ever wanted to be a winemaker. I've been doing it now for 35 years - that's a good thing!I still love it. It's what gets me up in the morning, puts a smile on my face and provides the drive to keep doing it better and better.I can't separate any one part of winemaking over any other – it's the diversity of the activities from being on the tractor, amongst the vines, harvest, winemaking, bottling & packaging, marketing, selling and telling the story of Australian, NSW, Mudgee, Lowe, Louee and Tinja Wines that are all part of what I do.I want to take these grapes that I grow, get them in a bottle with as little intervention as possible and get them to you with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of excellence. Making great wine in a good year from lovely vineyards is easy. There are also years where it's tough for all in the industry, and as an organic grower and maker we have few weapons; this is when age and experience also helps. The pinnacle is good wine. I don't want to tell you that it's hand crafted or boutique produced or estate bottled, while it is all those things it is more important to me that it is honest and free of jargon and allowed to be - wine! Wine to be shared with friends and food and enjoyed not worshipped.I also love telling and teaching about wine. That's one of the reasons you're likely to see me at our Cellar Door. It's why I've started the Lowe Wine club to ensure our enthusiasts get our rare and museum releases along with the ‘Lowedown' three times a year.Drop in, drop me a line, enjoy a drop. David Lowe

It was raining so we couldn't sit in their beautiful garden, but a lovely table was set for us amongst the barrels. We shared platters and had a wine tasting at the end of our meal. A thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all.

My husband and I toured Mudgee for the weekend and unfortunately, visited Lowe Wines on our last day otherwise we would have stayed there a bit longer and enjoyed a wine of 5 and a platter outside. Every wine we tried was delightful and we could have walked away with 10 cases and felt we had gotten a bargain. Lovely... More

One of the better wineries in the area, solid selection of varietals and a true representation of why Mudgee is an area with wines that are hard to beat right now. They might not hold onto that if the heat keeps up, but right now is the time to visit.

Very Welcoming staff. Low Alcohol and preservative free. Just a shame that there was not cafe for a quick lunch only a restaurant but had to have the 5 course lunch.

It was a hot late summer day when we arrived. The only winery of the eight we visited to offer shaded parking, under a grove of casuarinas. This winery is run on BioDynamic principals, with a variety of herbs, trees and vegetables interplanted with the vines to improve the soil quality and minimise the effects of growing too much of... The best cellar door in Australia! Nowhere has more character than Lowe - rustic charm and country hospitality. Lowe has the most beautiful setting in Mudgee - you can't beat sitting outside in the garden looking over the valley and enjoying a few wines. David Lowe knows the wine industry better than most, is always generous with his time and... More

Amazing wine, phenomenal service and delicious food!!!! Beautiful location with amazing grounds. Have been to the cellar door and to a wedding there as well. Both times were absolutely magical! If you can get a hold of David for a tour, he is fantastic - I wish I knew more about wine so I could ask him more questions. I... More

As small group we were visiting a number of wineries in their the area - and this was recommended. A best visit! An organic winery with knowledgeable and friendly staff (thanks Sandy). We were also taken around the back to sample from the casks. We got great value for money and the price per bottle was a pleasant surprise. Highly... More

This cellar door is located just outside Mudgee, a delightful approach leads into the tasting room. A great selection of wines are offered and it is difficult to decide what ones to choose. The lunchtime platter is a delight with a range of delicious cooked meats and fresh olives. A must visit place.
