This used to be the main square of Badajoz, it's been restored and modernized to end up like this test tube experiment gone wrong. The restored parts look so new they seem almost fake. The modern buildings (incorporating old-style leftovers) are al excessive and in...More

This plaza was easy to find, even without a map (during tourist season), we just followed the trickle of people and whisper of music. We arrived near dusk and it was truly enjoyable. Cafes are available for a treat or something to eat, there was...More

We visited during some Arabian Festival and the square was filled with incense and oils and leather boots and other objects you might relate to the Arabian Nights and that most hippies use. The buildings that in fact surround the square are extremely pretty.

Right next to the Alcazaba and Tourist Office. The paint used is a little different than most plazas in Spain. There are a few eateries and shops there, but was not busy the few times I walked through.

When we visited this colorful plaza around lunchtime it was rather abandoned, with only two terraces open serving only a few guests. It has a lot of potential though for more lively entertainment, although many of the buildings surrounding the square seems to be apartments,...More

Although there are many lovely places to sit and have a drink or something to eat in Badajoz, this is one of my favourites. It is always full of people, the cafes are good, and if you can get here during carnival or semama santa,...More

Considerably more run down thatn in the fotos on the web. Apparently been reconditioned fairly recently: either they used very poor quality materials or they did not rectify certain structuiral problems.

Plaza Alta de Badajoz. This location does exist already from the 17th century. On this location they also keep the market. In the 15th century almost all the houses on this “Plaza” were from Judes and Mores. Very nice location to spend some time, and...More
