Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very peaceful area of Mandurah, perfect for the war memorial.
During my time in Mandurah I went to the war memorial 3-4 times, mainly as I found it was the perfect place to get away from the crowds and find a quiet spot to read a book or just chill and take time to think or reflect.
The plaques commemorating the people who lost their lives are very touching and quotes in the tall white pillars. The water flowing down through the middle of the memorial is very calming and you will probably spot blue manna crabs at the end as it meets the water.
In my time sat at the waters edge looking out you see all the boats, jet skis, birds, SUPs going by but best of all each time I went to the war memorial I saw dolphins, very close and heading into the canals. Maybe I got lucky but for me it was the best place to spot dolphins from the waters edge.
Take the time out to visit the war memorial, whether it's to pay your respects, take time to reflect or just to gather with the family. It's a beautiful area of Mandurah with free parking on site.

The Mandurah War Memorial is different to the more traditional, I'd probably consider it as being abstract construction. White pillars of varying height symbolise the loss of life, the wounded, those that returned and their quest for peace. It is designed in an East/West orientation to capture the axis of the sun on ANZAC Day. There is a pool of water discharging water into the estuary; this symbolises the tide lapping at Anzac Cove. A black stone plinth stands in the centre of the pool. There are various plaques commemorating the various theatres of war where Australian service men and women were involved. The entire area of Memorial Park is very well maintained.

If you have a spare half hour, it is worth a look to view the unusual memorial and to read the inscriptions on the raised tablets which speak hauntingly about the horrors of war and how it affects everyone and anyone

The design of Mandurah's War Memorial might be very modern but it still passes the key test for any memorial in terms of its inherent dignity and solemnity. It occupies a prime site right on Mandurah's waterfront directly across the estuary from the town's centre, from where its concrete pillars are clearly visible. There is symmetry and symbolism in the pillar's different heights and east-west orientation, while the pine trees on the site have grown from seeds brought back from Gallipoli. And while the memorial look striking from a distance, it is even more impressive up close.

We took a walk from our hotel on the eastern side of the water, around to the memorial and it is well worth the walk. The memorial is quite amazing. There is water flowing from the mound where the vertical monuments stand and flows into the inlet. Whoever planned this monument has done an amazing job.

Situated on an open and very scenic point, this is a beautiful memorial of quite unusual design. A very good spot to reflect on the waste and futility of war.

Hi Soo P
We live in Mandurah which is quite a way south of Perth. Joondalup Resort is in the Perth metropolitan are bu is about a 25 minute drive north of the city centre. It is a lovely resort on a world renowned golf course. There are beaches not far away as well. Hope this helps.
Kind regards Anne
