About
Take the road less travelled and discover Whicher Ridge, a hidden gem crafting small batch, single vineyard wines. Our winery is small, owned and operated by a dynamic team of two, Neil and Cathy Howard. We are a vigneron and winemaker couple with a combined 50 years of experience between us. We take a ‘hands-on’ approach to the growing of our grapes and the making of our wines, and we have a ‘tread lightly on the earth’ philosophy with our sustainable farming practices. Our winery, vineyard, cellar door and wine sensory garden are located only 20 minutes from Busselton and 40 minutes from Margaret River. We are dog friendly winery, so bring your pooch along to meet us and Polly the wine dog.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So happy to find this gem. In truth, we were given a helping hand from Andrew at Tree Chalets, and we are very grateful.

Polly the resident dog works front of house, greeting us at the car. Cathy walked us to the cellar door and walked us through a tasting of 5 very good wines. The Cabernet Sauvignon was a stand out for me and Mrs C was a big fan of the rosé.

The hard work Neil does, hand pruning, obviously pays off. Great job.

Highly recommended.

such an unusual way to taste wines - glass in hand wandering through a beautiful garden tasting and smelling plants that emulate the aromas and flavours of the wine and discussing food pairings. Cathy is so passionate and knowledgable. Can't wait to check out the upcoming native ingredients experience.

This Artesian vineyard is not one you should miss. It is a little further away and secluded but has stunning gardens to walk through and the wines are incredible. Once you taste you will definitely recommend to friends. It is run by a lovely couple and you will be greeted by their friendly pup Polly. Worth the drive

Superb small winery, with personally curated offerings of the major wine types. The Chardonnay is wonderful, the Sauvignon Blanc is on a completely different level to others, and the Sparkling Red is just delicious, with a super good Cabernet.
We arranged a Pick, Sip and Sup experience and it was a personal educative delight, and unique so far as I know. It is worth finding the way there for this alone - Cathy is a passionate exponent of wine, techniques and the ways to produce the best texture in a wine.
I recommend you persevere to get there - Google maps may misdirect you - but it is thoroughly worth the effort however and Cathy and Neil are worth finding in the myriad of wineries around the Busselton region.

Whitxher Ridge Wines is an adventure in itself and a learning experience. It's off the beaten track with beautiful scenery on the way from Busselton. Just follow the signs and when you reach this little gem you will be greeted by Polly the Kelpie. Polly will lead you to the cellar door, where the talented and lovely Cathy Howard will show you their amazing wines. Take a picnic, stroll around the Sensory Garden and make an afternoon of it. Don't forget to take home some delicious wines as well

Love to visit wineries off the beaten track so travelled 20kms out to discover limited opening days/times. An earlier sign advertising this would have been gold!

Hi MC and so sorry to hear that you found our Cellar Door closed. We are a small family run business running our winery, vineyard, our farm and our cellar door ourselves. We are open 5 days a week, Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm, and are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Due to Main Roads and City of Busselton rules regarding signage we are not able to place our opening hours on the directional tourism signs leading out to our winery and cellar door. I do have our opening hours on our website, our facebook page and on google to promote our opening days and hours as best we can. I do hope that you visit us again as our wines and our wine sensory garden are well worth a visit.
