The tour began in town and at a leisurely pace to several gorgeous white sanded, sparkling aquamarine beaches on the way ro the old whaling station. The shells in the old whaling station museum were beautiful, in perfect condition and displayed to their very best advantage. The whaling station itself, situated amid clear turquoise water and white sand was extraordinary; the flensing deck with its photographs of whale slaughter gruesome and poignant yet fascinating. A genuine whaling ship from the time was part of the exhibit, access is permitted to see how those who worked on it lived.
We were enthralled and a little nervous on visiting Albany’s famous landmark, The Gap, where the wind almost blew us off our feet, the sea foamed and crashed beneath the grille we stood on and which projects out from the mighty cliffs of ancient stone.
Elsewhere surrounding Albany ,were breathtaking vistas from the many mounts visited, where in the distance lay yet more hills enshrouded in blue haze,
Our guide was extremely well informed about everything to do with the entire area we visited and also pleasant and friendly
