Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited Lake Seppings as it had been recommended as a good place to see some of the birds special to Western Australia. I was not disappointed. I went early morning when it was quiet apart from a few dog walkers and found several birds I'd not previously seen in a peaceful unspoilt wild setting. There was no litter and very few exotic plants, but plenty of native vegetation and birds. It was very damp underfoot but someone had thoughtfully put branches in strategic places so I didn't get my feet wet. The next day when I returned (I am a keen birdwatcher, after all!) I found that someone had put pavers or bricks through the puddles which made walking through the wet areas a breeze. Obviously this place is well cared for and treasured by the locals. A lovely walk and most rewarding for anyone interested in Australia's birds. Highly recommended.

This 2.5 km free walk goes around a good-size lake and it is relatively flat. A bird blind half way through allows you to get close to the water and possibly some birds. Some very good birding areas where we saw beautiful finches and the fairy wrens. A bit muddy in one section of the trail, but passable. An enjoyable walk with lots of birds. I would do it again.

An hour's walk around the lake is easy going and showcases local plants and birdlife. It really is very peaceful and beautiful! Take a picnic lunch and sit for a while.

Good for dog walkers. It is a shame it is overwhelmed with bull rushes blocking much of the lake views. Much could be done to landscape this area to be more visitor friendly. I left the walk feeling a bit down.

An ongoing project to rehabilitate the bushland around this natural fresh water lake. Great for walking, cycling and bird watching.

A wetland that has been manicured to a suburban area. Pretty to look at but if you want wildlife, look else where.

We visited Lake Seppings on World Wetland Day, February 2nd. It was to meet with the local Albany Birdlife group for an early morning birding walk. This offers a wonderful opportunity for passive nature recreation; bird watching and walking the highlights.
Lake Seppings has two bird hides and lovely open and treed path and boardwalk. It is a repaired wetland and a testament to local conservation efforts to preserve important habitat for local birds and wildlife. Of course like wetlands (swamps) generally, it serves as an important filtration and drainage system in any developed area.
At the right time there's the promise of seeing a wonderful range of water bird species, waders and also some 'land' birds.

The lake is an excellent location for bird watching with more than 100 different species having been spotted in the area. Wading birds such as the Australian white ibis, yellow-billed spoonbill and the white-faced heron can be found here.
Blue-billed and musk ducks, black swans, hoary-headed grebes, Australian pelicans and Eurasian coots can regularly be seen on the lake’s surface, while spotless crakes, masked lapwings, dusky moorhens, purple swamphens and buff-banded rails can be found in the grasses.

Great place to walk around with the family for a bit of exercise without it feeling like a chore. Abundant birdlife. Cudos to the volunteers who help to keep the invasive plants at bay. Some great geo caches too but don't tell the muggles. Hard to believe that this was once a rubbish tip.
