The surging power of the Southern Ocean is evident at The Gap, a spectacular channel in the 40 metre high coastal granites of Torndirrup National Park. Lookouts at both the Gap and natural Bridge provide outstanding views of the Southern Ocean and the coast from Bald Head to West Cape Howe. Visitors to the Gap can venture onto a universally accessible new viewing platform 40 metres directly above the surging seas in all but the worst weather conditions. From the gentle and mesmerising heaving of calm seas to the buffeting rush of wind and spray of winter storms the experience changes from day to day. A raised pathway leads from the car-park and picnic area across the top of the exposed granite ramparts to reach the viewing platform at the Gap. The pathway gives safe access to the best views while protecting vulnerable plants and lichens on the rock surface from trampling.

Both attractions are along side each other and provide breath taking views of the granite coastline and features. The gap has a relatively new and very well engineered terrace over the sea which provides exciting views of the waves breaking on the granite below. Wheelchair accessible. $12 entrance for the car. Great for photos. No refreshments so take your own.

The upgrading of the access ways was completed this year and are most impressive. Of course, to see the magnificent scenery is the real purpose of the trip, but it is now perfectly safe to stand over the gap and look straight down at the turbulent sea in the Gap in complete safety through multiple slots in the cantilevered-out walkway.... On a previous visit (many years ago) I felt this area was rather dangerous as one could get quite near the water. Now it has been all designed for safety with paths, do not enter areas with walls. One is encouraged to stay on the marked paths. There is a newly opened overhang - quite spectacular jutting out over the... More

The gap was pretty amazing. The platform area was a bit scary at first but once we got over our fear it was awesome. The only gripe I have was that we had to pay $12 to park and we were only here for 10 mins.

It was a fine but windy day in beautiful Albany when we visited The Gap last month (Nov.2016). Near the car park etched into the walkway was an interesting depiction of the break-up of the continents, presumably illustrating how the granite cliffs came to exist. I was impressed at how much work has been put into making the path fit... More

First visit to the Gap very windy but has fantastic views. They have made a walk way and a over hang to walk on very spectacular with lots of signs saying to stay on the walkway for safety.

This natural wonder is breathtaking when you stand out on the ledge. It was a windy day when we visited and it felt as though we could be blown away. There are rock walks around this area that are interesting as well .

Great viewing platform. Although I didn't wish to hang over the edge with my camera, the views were great.

The Gap and Natural Bridge site has been recently renewed and is a spectacular spot in Torndirrup NP! Take a breathtaking view from the platform and mind, there's nothing below your feet as the gap! The view to the Natural Bridge is cool as well!
