About
Come sailing with us on the beautiful bays in Albany. We may even see some whales! Southern Ocean Sailing sets sail every day (subject to weather conditions) to destinations like Oyster and Princess Royal Harbours, the Islands of King George Sound and secluded beaches. Try your hand at hoisting the sails and steering our yacht or simply sit back and relax. Bring along some wine and nibbles if you wish. Oh and don't forget your Bathers. Small groups very welcome.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best thing to do in Albany. It’s a great way to see the city from the water. Mark is well informed and will give you a good understanding of the city’s history. The bay is protected from the weather making it a relaxed trip. You set off from the marina right in the centre.

Would give 6 stars if we could! We had a wonderful day with Mark, he’s so knowledgable and friendly, encouraging us to get involved in the sailing and telling us all about Albany. He made our anniversary and we’ll definitely go again if we’re in Albany in the future. Thanks so much Mark!

We had a wonderful morning sailing with Mark and Karina. Panacea is a fine vessel and perfect for small groups; and our hosts were friendly and most knowledgeable. It was not just a sailing trip - it was an educational tour of the coastline around Albany. I could not rate it higher.

Skipper Mark is an excellent host and an outstanding sailor. He has sailed all over the world and loves passing along his sailing experience to others. His boat has competed in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race and is a great sailing craft. If we ever get back to Albany we will be sailing with Mark again.

A big thank you to Mark and also Jenny for making our morning out on the water enjoyable. Your knowledge of the water was amazing Mark and Jenny the coffee and slice yum. Strongly recommend anyone who has some spare time when in Albany to do this trip. Warm clothes were supplied. Will definitely do again next time we visit Albany

We spent a week in Albany in February 2015 (part of a three week tour of Southwestern Australia) and had no difficulty filling each day with great sightseeing experiences. A morning spent with Mark on his lovely ocean-going yacht was one of the highlights. Not to be missed if you like being on the water! I was thrilled to take the helm for most of the morning as we sailed around the beautiful natural harbour. We tied up at a buoy on the far side of the harbour in a sheltered anchorage and Mark put the kettle on and made coffee which we enjoyed with cakes he had brought on board. He was perfectly happy to take just the two of us - he does not operate a 'minimum numbers' approach and the price he charges is very reasonable. Thank you, Mark, for a great experience. We hope to be back one day (even though Albany is a long way from our home in the UK!).

Mark heard that my friends, partner and myself were looking at going out on the Ocean on a boat, which he kindly approached myself and partner about on 22nd December. My partner and me were visiting Albany from Northampton (UK) and were taken back with the beauty of Albany and its coast line, so we couldn't turn down an opportunity of sailing across the Ocean.
We went out with Mark on 23rd December (thank you for fitting us in at such short notice), we all took turns steering the yacht and Mark kept us very entertained with amazing stories. We had afternoon tea on the Yacht and also got me a Gluten Free cake, thank you.
I recommend this for anyone who wants to experience Albany from the Ocean, with the flexibility of times and location, no matter how small or little your group is.
If your lucky you might have the opportunity to see Dolphins, Whales etc.

Sailed out to witness the symbolic naval departure during the Albany ANZAC commemorations. We were right amongst it. 7 naval ships and a submarine. Got a few waves from the naval officers. Will never forget this day.

Had a wonderful sail out of Princess Royal Harbour along the coast to Middleton Beach. The scenery was beautiful and the water crystal blue. You can lay back and enjoy the ride or hoist the sails and take the wheel which I did.
Mark the owner has many thousands of sea miles sailing the oceans of the world and the coast of Australia with many stories to tell.
I highly recommend this sailing trip to small groups or families. You can say where you wish to go, have a layback time or experience the thrill of racing across the waves.

Thanks Jenny for your review. Panacea is a fine yacht. Although her past is winning races she is now stripped down to provide for a safe and very enjoyable sailing experience. However should a group wish to experience the thrill of sailing fast we can re-rigg her in no time. The Fremantle to Bali and the Fremantle to Albany race is on our calendar.
