A whale tour with so much more. Informed commentary from Antje the Skipper and Sunny, Leading Hand. The history, as much info on the Humpback & Southern Right as you could digest. Following the bayside with fantastic aquamarine sands right up to the island lighthouse.
Did we see whales - sure did. Maybe not breaching but their tales, bodies and nostrils were all visible within 30m or so. The skipper certainly knew where to look. And we were treated to plenty of pods and singles. Also seals, albatross feasting on cuttlefish.
Hot drinks complimentary as much as you wanted and nibbles too. Sailing past bald head was amazing.
Ticked all the boxes from sighting whales, beautiful coastline, informed commentary and genuinely friendly staff. A must when you're in Albany.

A splendid half day chasing humpback whales around King George Sound. Knowledgeable staff, not just about whales, but birds, local history etc. endless hot drinks, snacks. Remote lookouts found a pod of four humpbacks on one occasion and a whale and her calf on the other. An excellent half day out.

Four of us went on this whale watching tour and we all loved it! We saw heaps of humpback whales and had dolphins playing in the wake of the boat. The crew were informative and interesting and went above and beyond to make sure we saw whales, staying out for an extra hour and a half in the hope that the whales breaching in the distance would trigger the whales close by into action. No luck but we saw lots of backs, tails and spouts. And we were also incredibly lucky to have one pod of whales singing loudly. We were extremely fortunate with the conditions given that it was winter - blue sky, no wind and only 1 meter swells.

Had a fantastic day out with Aaron and Sunny. Saw whales swimming and some seals sunbathing. The whales breaching at the end was a definite highlight. Thankyou so much to you both.

Set sail bang on time, as scheduled. We were provided commentary all throughout the trip whilst being fed with hot snacks, tea and biscuits. We searched for whales whilst taking in the beautiful surround of the Albany coastline. Aaron and Sunny could not have been more helpful and friendly. We searched for whales but they were not playing so the dolphins, and seal lions were our only finds but that made no difference to the wonderful morning we had with this trip.
On the way back in we consoled ourselves with hot donuts and a free return trip to spot whales. This offer is open until whales are spotted so you cannot go wrong.
Highly recommend these guys - such a special trip.

We went out for a lovely family whale-watching trip in July 2020. It was a sunny, but blustery day. We saw numerous whales and seals, but no dolphins on the day we went.
The crew looked after us well with drinks and morning tea. I won't be taking a chicken dinosaur again, but I do recommend their boat made scones and jam.
The captain told our 11-year old all about how they sail and find the whales while we sailed along. She enjoyed this very much. Thank you.

Wasnt on your boat today was on another and found it very rude that you kept cutting us off so we couldn't get close or see them properly. Move over and let everyone see

Is it safe to bring a 2 months old baby?
Aaron
Albany, Australia
Hi Stefanny. Yes it is safe to bring your baby. Please bring a carry cot or sling as there it is not safe to have a pram on board as it cannot be stored where passengers have to move around. You are welcome to store it in our marina office while you are out on the tour. Cheers Forrest
Hi there,
Wondering whether there would be any tours happening (with likelihood of seeing whales) in the next couple of days?
Many thanks,
Sara

Albany, Australia
Hi Sara. Sorry, the whale watching season in Albany has ended. You may find whales from tour companies operating on the west coast from towns such as Augusta, Busselton, Dunsborough. Try Legend Charters. Cheers Forrest
Hi, is this suitable for 80+yo elderly and 4+yo kiddo? also, am looking at mid may trip. Appreciate if you could help to advise on cost for 5 adults and a child.
Aaron
Albany, Australia
Hi. Thanks for your enquiry. If you are referring to Sail-A-Way, the vessel we use for whale watching tours, then Yes, it is suitable for all ages. Our whale watching season begins in the last week of May and goes through to the first week of October. It is most unlikely that you would see whales in the middle of May. We are hoping to go out with our first whale tour around the 25th May. Cheers Forrest

Hi , can I bring my kid of 4 years old to join the whale watching tour? I'm thinking of joining this tour around early September 2017. Thanks
Aaron

Hi Belle_223. You certainly can bring a 4 year old child on board for a whale watching tour. Thanks for your enquiry. Cheers John, Forrest and crew
Is their whales early to mid november or have i left it too late
Aaron
Albany, Australia
Sorry Kylie, you have left it too late for whale watching tours in Albany. Our season ended around the 9th October. This is usually when it ends in Albany. You may be lucky with seeing whales from a tour on the west coast: try Dunsborough, Busselton or Augusta. Whales can be sighted on their return to Antarctica (from the tropical waters off Broome) In November and early December. Unfortunately the whales do not come around the south west corner of WA to Albany on their return journey, but take the short cut directly down to Antarctica.
There are many tour companies on the west coast. We know of Legends Charters and Naturaliste Charters.
Cheers Forrest and John

We will only be in Albany for a couple of nights; is it possible to book a tour in advance? I realise that you are dependant on the weather and that our preferred dates may not work.
Aaron
Albany, Australia
Hi, It is advisable to book ahead to ensure your place on the tour, and this can be done through our website. If weather is unsuitable and you cannot join any other tour, you will receive a full refund. Thanks for your question. Cheers Forrest
