The first farm in Albany

Strawberry Farm is a good trip to make whilst in Albany. It is only small, but the history of the place, together with the exhibits still make it worthwhile.

I have driven past this place so many times without stopping so wished I had stopped sooner. What a charming, delightful, wonderful walk back in time. The volunteers were so friendly and spent some time chatting about the history of the farm. Entry is by donation only. We really loved walking around reading all the information and taking lots of... Keep an eye out for this attraction. It is off the road so you might pass it by even though it is quite well signposted. Great to walk around the hold house and what used to be the servants quarters. Had a very enjoyable morning and Inger the guide who was on duty that day really made the trip memorable... More

During the height of the tourist season it would be assumed this historic house would be open. Indeed, the website advised that it was open, and the latest edition of the Albany Advertiser described the attraction as 'Open Daily.' But on arrival at the Old Farm it was clear it was otherwise. There was a road block into the grounds... More

I was in my element here visiting this farm, the oldest in Albany 1836 to be precise. Now run by the National Trust it's been partially restored after it was gutted by fire. The Volunteer did a fairly good job explaining what had gone on in the past which I found interesting. The house was amazing with its old oak... More

All the farmhouse, the associated buildings and the garden are well maintained. The farmhouse has been extended & renovated numerous times. The windows & rooms are not squared. The stairs are at a fairly inclined angle. Lots of history, pictures, costume, antiques & period furniture. All these add to the charm of the place. Love the garden; filled with many... More

We had a great time here learning about the very early history of Albany farming and settlers. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. We then wandered around the place and relaxed in its beauty and history. it certainly was worth a visit.

This house has been preserved beautifully. We oved the rooms made up to look authentic. The kitchen was really good too, The gardens are great. It is a pity the little cafe closed.

We visited this historical farm house and gardens on our previous holiday in Albany but during our recent trip in August it was shut for maintenance and I think they shut it every August so best to check with the visitors information centre on opening times. It is great to see how the pioneers settled when they arrived in Albany... More
