I booked this trip, as I really wanted to travel the Great Ocean Road, but did not want (or have time to) hire a car, and drive it myself. I compared every Great Ocean Road tour available, and determined that this one was the most comprehensive. I booked my tour at a time when there were very few people booking tours, and I was really worried that I would not be able to do this tour. But AAAT really came through, even though the tour was smaller than they usually require to run.
The trip itself was amazing. We left early both days - which was great, as we avoided a lot of the other tours, and got to enjoy the sights more. The tour guide, Walter was great - he shared a lot of interesting information about the locations we visited, and was great at pointing out local wildlife, like kangaroos and koalas!
All the stops were well planned, and there was plenty of time at each place. Every stop was certainly worth the visit! At the 12 Apostles, there is an option to go on a helicopter ride over the Apostles, and other land (ocean) marks along the coast. Highly recommended! It’s absolutely stunning!
This tour had plenty of stops where you could fill up a water bottle, go to the bathroom etc. And the food options available at lunch and dinner stops were plentiful – nice cafes, fish and chip shops and so on. Accommodation is adequate – it’s nothing fancy, but as long as you’re comfortable sharing a room with other people, it’s fine.
For the cost, this tour can not be beat!

A most enjoyable 2-day trip. Walter, the owner of “Around and About” (the tour operator) was our driver and guide. My wife and I were among the total of 8 persons in the 11-passenger van. Walter did a enjoyable and enlightening job of efficiently handling everything. He provided insights, showed us the amazing sites as described in the listing, showed much concern to ensure we were all being fully satisfied and even delighted. And we were truly delighted. We departed Melbourne 6am on the first morning, saw the sights listed for that day, and spent the night in Apollo Bay. The youth hostel there was fine, no problem. My wife and I much enjoyed our delicious evening meal at the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse, where we ordered Kangaroo steak. So delicious. The 2nd day was equally enjoyable. We saw koalas, kangaroos, other animals in the wild. We were very pleased to have lots of opportunities to get out of the van at the numerous stops, to take photos and often enough time to take some short (15 - 45 minute) walks. Our 2nd day, we returned back to Melbourne ~ 5pm. We loved it all. We highly recommend.

A great two day trip, because of the early starts, which genuinely did allow for a much smoother trip and no queues anywhere! Walter has been doing tours for c. 16 years so he has vast knowledge of this part of Australia. Highly recommend. Comments for consideration - not for those who dislike early starts, not for those who would rather spend a long time in one place and visit a few places (this tour has a lot of stops so there are time limits for all the spots we visited).

With only a week in Aus Walter’s trip was the perfect way to spend a couple of days exploring the best of the GORoad!
The drive out was packed with lots of interesting and fun stops ranging from viewing world famous surf spots, swimming in waterfalls to seeing koalas in the wild and stopping for lunch in the iconic surf towns of the south coast.
Our one evening on the road was spent at the YHA hostel. This hostel was spotlessly clean, had a relaxed vibe with a fully equipped kitchen and lounge where you could socialise with all. Not your standard hostel!
On our second day we continued our journey along the GORoad to the 12 apostles. Leaving early meant that we had many of the iconic beaches and viewpoints to ourselves. Walter also took us to a stunning beach just ahead of the apostles where you could access the beach and really appreciate the grandeur of the coastal line and stack formations. The day just got better and better with our final swim in the gorge of the most stunning beach amongst the apostle coastline followed by an easy climb into a cave.
The trip was well structured and definitely suitable to all ages given the short and accessible hikes.
Make sure to eat a good breakfast and bring lots of snacks. Despite Walter providing a morning tea stop with biscuits and fresh fruit throughout the day there are some good hours between meal times.
A fantastic two day trip that I’d highly recommend to anyone who wants to make the most of their time here in Aus!

Walter is an excellent guide and I can highly recommend his two day tour of the The Great Ocean Road.
I am 23 and visiting Australia on my own, and was concerned beforehand if this tour would be suitable for me, but I can confidently say that Walter’s bus and tour structure provide an excellent environment to get to know the people you’re sharing the tour with irrespective of their age or background. This was a part of the experience I thoroughly enjoyed.

Comprehensive tour which avoids other tours. Well informed and entertaining guide. Spending the night in Apollo Bay allows you to enjoy without feeling rushed and enjoy some free time and relax. Thanks again Around And About.

Booked a 4-day custom tour with Around and About and couldn't recommend enough! Walter was so accommodating, fun, and a joy to be around. We had a group of wildlife photographers and Walter was never fussed when we took a bit longer at a stop or if we decided to make changes to the intended route. He was very punctual, knew a lot about the surrounding areas of Melbourne and was always happy to help. His vehicle is spacious, comfortable and always very tidy. An absolutely incredible experience - 10/10!

I really enjoyed this trip and thought it was very good value. Walter, our driver and guide, was friendly and informative. He was keen for us to avoid the crowds as far as possible, so this meant a couple of early starts, but it was worth it. I stayed in the youth hostel (a first) but it was clean and comfortable and more than adequate. We only had 5 on the trip so had plenty of room in the minibus. I would thoroughly recommend the trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed the entire tour on that day. Although it was a gloomy and cold day our kids had a great time doing all activities. I highly recommend Around and About for a safe trip for family's with kids

Walter our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The sites and scenery he pointed out, we would have surely missed had we driven the road in our own. Bus was comfortable and Walter had a supply of water at all times. Would have liked to have a bug cover for my head because the bugs were very annoying. Overall a wonderful experience.
