Our tour was of about 30 and was more of a history lesson than a ghost tour, the tour guide was really nice, but we didnt really appreciate being left in china town at the end of the tour, to find your own way back to where we started, no good when you dont know your way around the city overall rating 4/10

Thank you for your review. It is a shame to hear that you didn't experience any ghosts. We have been having a lot of activity lately at the Imperial, Gordon Place and Pink Alley but sadly it doesn't sound like you did on your tour. Hopefully you have an encounter on a future tour. Happy Haunting Jacqui

My husband bought me a a tour of Southport Cemetery for as my Valentines present, so we went on our date night last night.. (Sat 26th March) I have always been a bit of a ghost magnet and people have been able to catch some great photos of spirit around me. Wendy did a fantastic job of the tour, telling us lots of interesting stories - One was of "The Woman In White" It was dark and raining, and i only had the camera in my phone, so the images are grainy, but distinct. Here the "Woman In White" is stepping out of the grave as we were talking about her - it is cropped and circled but unmodified other than that - I have a series of 3 shots of her, two of the murdered children came out quite well and the face of their murdered appeared too - and 2 shots of Mr Brown... there was something in almost every photo I too.. lots of orbs ( too many in fact) but LOTS of whitish ghostly figures too...Lots of interesting shots. Happy to share some with you if you like. A well done tour with lots of spirit activity and ghost happy to be seen on camera.

Our intimate tour party was lead by Anne. Her stories about the warehouse, alleyways, tower and morgue were informative and steeped with local history. Each of us experienced a "presence" during the tour and I would recommend the package with the meal at the Steam Packet Hotel prior to the tour.

Went to Point Cook Homestead for the ghost tour. Since the Covina new rules re numbers and distancing have just come in, we were advised when we arrived that the tour would be conducted outside the homestead. About 30 people on the tour, so it would have been too crowded inside.
So Ken took us for a wander around the grounds in the dark, telling us all sorts of historical information about the property, Williamstown, Altona, etc, etc. very little about the ‘haunted’ homestead, we played with his divining sticks ( mostly a fail, well a 95% failure rate) and generally had a mildly entertaining evening.
At the end of the tour, we were invited into the house ( all bare rooms) for a few minutes in small groups.
Talking with other disgruntled members of the group during the night, many of us had checked during the week that the tour would be going ahead. All had been told it would, but no one was told that we would be virtually excluded from the house. It either should have have been cancelled, or visitors advised of the changes beforehand.
Very disappointing for all of us.

Good morning David , thank you for letting us know you felt the tour should have been cancelled . We do try not to cancel tours due to people traveling just for the tours. At this time we did our best to make all guests feel comfortable attending the tour , we are sorry you did not enjoy this tour.

Be cautious of these guys. More often than not these tours are history tours not ghost tours and you'll hear about tragic tails. If you're a history buff great. If you want to see ghost, ehhhh.
Anyhow, I have done 15/20 Ghost Tours,
The Rocks Sydney, Adelaide Gaol, Z Ward Adelaide, Beechworth a few times (Mayday and the Gaol), Aradale twice, J ward, Pentridge a few times, Old Melbourne Gaol, Williams Town, and a few cemetery and the werribee one. Bit of a fan.
Last week I was supposed to do the Melbourne tour, but unfortunately my partner who is a type 1 diabetic fell ill. She had a gastric issue that made her pulse fly up, (a number of complications from nerve damage that effects her blood flow, the way she digest food, then blood sugars go crazy, bit of a pain in the arse and hard to plan around) and we werent able to go on the tour, I told the guide, she told me to call a 1300 number, they told me to email, the run around.
My emails have been ignored.
I get told I didn't give enough notice, we need 48 hours, our T's and C's blah blah blah fancy words we just want to screw you over and give you nothing for your money.
Im a reasonable man, I don't think asking for a reschedule is out of the question, the overheads can't be that high that giving a repeat customer a rescheduled your is the end of the world. But apparently it is.
I was planning on the Pentridge tour again, and the Melbourne cemetery, and probably more tours in the coming years, but the experience with Latern Tours Administration has left me with such a bitter taste, I wouldnt waste another cent on this company.

So take the tour, it should be good. Just don't expect Lantern Ghost Tours to be honorable when misshaps of life get in the way and stop you from doing a tour. You're on your own if you don't give 48 hours.

Booked a Tour of Pentridge Prison D Division, on Sat 10 Dec 2022 tour operator DID NOT SHOW UP!

The building owner told us the tour had been cancelled 5 weeks back and that the operator should not have booked tours on that night.

We booked for 4, two of our friends came up to Melb from Castlemaine!! Terribly disappointed and angry.

Trying to get a refund now.

We booked a tour for a hens night for the 27th April and were told by Sandra that the best tour was the Point Cook Tour, we booked and paid and last week we received an email that the tour was cancelled and they had booked us in for the 13th April. Being a hens night we had guests arriving from interstate and simply had to have that night, other tours were offered however we wanted the best one as Sandra recommended so we decided to change our plans and do something else. The website clearly states that we could all get full refunds if the tour is cancelled by them. Sandra was lovely about this and agreed but some guy calls a few minutes later and comes on all heavy about making it another night! I didnt appreciate this rude phone call and some of my friends are still waiting for a refund after leaving 3 messages! BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU BOOK & PAY FOR THIS TOUR, it may be a great tour but we certainly found the customer service terrible and are wondering if they will honour their refund policy!

We are very disappointed that you have not contacted us to discuss your issues. It is impossible for us to correct any issues you may have if you will not call us or respond to our phone calls. It is much easier to call us directly. Andrew tried to call you on Saturday 24th March as soon as he saw your review on Tripadvisor to determine what your issue was and try to resolve it. We work in the office together and a group of us were all very shocked to hear you abusing him verbally over the phone and hang up. The poor boy was only able to say "hello" before your torrent of abuse. I tried to call you again on the 26th March but you have not returned our calls. I have managed to map your name to a hen's party that was cancelled at Point Cook Homestead. This has been addressed with all members of the party except yourself- we're not sure what the issue is exactly. Your group opted to cancel and wanted full refunds which have been issued to everyone including yourself. Please answer your phone/ call us so we can resolve your issue. We may have incorrect bank details for you or perhaps you are looking at the wrong bank account? We can easily confirm and rectify this with a quick phone call. Either way, Tripadvisor isn't the forum for this type of thing. It would be best to use Tripadvisor to review tours and our phone number and email for any queries/issues.

This would have to be one of the most tedious historically inaccurate tours I have ever attended. The tour guide was condescending, inaudible and historically inaccurate.
There was absolutely no atmosphere, stories about area were cut short, made no sense or recycled from other tours of other areas. People who had not paid joined the tour. Not a great mention of Ghosts just a lot of generalisations and excessive mentions of brothels. Considering the heavy convict history including prison hulks in the area, you would think a lot of stories existed, but no mention was made.
I should have smelt a rat when the tour guide mentioned at the end of the tour the tales were “based “ on fact. The only fact I could find was this is a big waste of time and money

Thank you for booking our tour. Your review has caused great concern. Can you please tell me which date and time you went on the tour? We are members of the Williamstown Historic Society and all our stories are thoroughly researched. We are also appointed by the Visitor Centre and Council to run history tours in the area and are often used as a source of historical information. You have also mentioned that there was no mention of prison hulks in Williamstown. We always include a whole section about the Prison Hulks at Point Gellibrand. We talk about Owen Owens, John Price, the five hulks and the prisoners' lives. Could you please tell me if this entire section was ommitted from the tour? If there was any information you believe to be historically inaccurate, can you please tell us and we will show you our sources of information for those facts. Thank you in advance Jacqui

I recently took Lantern's Old Melbourne ghost tour with four other family members/friends, ranging in age from 26 to 60+. Not one of us rated this tour. While the tour guide was lovely, she did not have a clue on how to tell a ghost story with any build-up or aplomp - I really felt like I was being led around by a first grade school teacher reading "Pam and Sam". The places the tour guide chose to stop were odd, to say the least - we stopped at traffic lights on busy roads and right next to outdoor restaraunts where people were dining. This made it hard to hear and I had to ask for the tour guide to speak up. The stories told were light-on and it was far more like a history lesson than a ghost tour. You know a tour is not good when you're looking forward to it ending, and I know I was. My husband and I were lucky enough to take a rockin' ghost tour in New Orleans recently and we were hoping to have a similiar Melbournian-type experience in our own city. Sadly, this just didn't eventuate.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the tour. I contacted the other guests who attended your tour and overall received excellent feedback. She is a medium and guests were impressed with the stories and the level of activity she picked up on. For guests who want a theatrical performance we don't offer this as we believe in ghosts and research all our stories.

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your evening. I called the other guests who went on the same tour as you to check how the tour went and they said that the guide was great, tour was ontime and a few caught orbs and silhouttes on camera while one said she felt she was followed by one of our ghosts- Ama. I contacted the Young and Jacksons about your dinner booking. We consistently receive great feedback from guests about the food which is why we partner with them. I found out there was a mix up but they corrected it and gave you the correct menu in the end which is a special, discounted menu only for guests who book through us and includes 2 courses + alcoholic beverage + sweet for $40.
