Go Ride A Wave Torquay is the most well known location of Australia's favourite surf school who provide 2 hour surfing lessons for beginners every day from $79. We also provide surfboards bodyboards and wetsuits for hire and have all the equipment you need for the beach available for sale from our shop which is the closest shop to the Torquay beach.

Worth every cent!

Absolutely brilliant instructors, they have the patience of a saint and ensure everyone has a great time! Good quality gear supplied and cater to the different ability levels of all people in the groups! Can’t recommend enough will definitely be back for another lesson!

From booking to the shower afterwards back at the shop, everything was great. Easy process, very friendly and professional staff, from Tim booking and at the shop, and Hanna who took the lesson at the beach and helped in the water ... and thankfully didn't need to save us! Highly recommend for quality of service, and value for money.

Great experience
Friendly and personalized service! Storefront staff was very welcoming. Both surf instructors Zander and Joel were friendly, energetic and super helpful making it an overall unenjoyable experience. Thank you!

First time on a board - awesome experience!

Had an amazing couple of hours out on the water. This was my first time on a board & very inexperienced. I’d go so far to say that I’m quite afraid of breakers and being in the surf but felt totally comfortable the whole way through and now I just want to go again! We had Xander who was super chilled, friendly, and didn’t put any pressure on us while always there for advice and tips and checked in with us for safety the whole way through. Exactly how I like to learn. Felt amazing to experience surfing for the first time at the home of surfing! 100% recommend and already checking the forecast for tomorrow!

Despite being winter we had a great lesson. With wetsuits water was not cold at all. At the end we were almost able to stand on the board.

Hugh was a brilliant teacher, despite tricky conditions he was able to get my whole family up and managing to stand up and we had a great time, he managed to give us all a great experience. Thank you!

Unforgettable experience with the best teachers

What an incredible experience with a terrific bunch of teachers! My 12 year old son who is shy and struggles in group situation’s absolutely loved the surf class today. It was an incredibly empowering class for him to take on the surf and be able to stand on his board. The way the teachers interacted with students and the clear and thoughtful advice they gave them will be something they will carry for a lifetime. Simple message of “never surf alone” is something he will never forget, but above that the way he felt out there in the surf, free yet completely sade around capable teachers who actually cared about him and his learning is something that he and I will treasure for a lifetime. Thank you legends! What a magnificent experience

Great fun for the whole family

We had booked surfing lessons for two kids under 10 years old and as it turned out our kids were the only two that enrolled for the lesson. Despite that, the lesson went ahead as planned so it was pretty much a private lesson for us :-). Toby was our instructor and he was fantastic with the kids, there was lots of fun, smiles and high-fives! Towards the end of the two hour lesson, when kids had no energy left, Toby encouraged us parents to have a go and provided some quick tips to get us going :-). It was an awesome morning at the beach and we all managed to ride a wave :-) - thank you Toby and Go Ride A Wave team.

Friendly Staff and Full of Smiles!
Taught Safety and Riding Technique really well and also adjusted to the varying abilities of the group really well for those learning how to swim.
The wetsuits kept me really warm and I had fun!
