Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Once again, Ironbird Bookshop has helped this old great-uncle charm another great-niece with a well chosen book. A month before, her brother had been won over by a beautiful History of the World through Maps. The gentle advice of the owner, a young father, is always well-informed and thoughtful. And then the next morning, there in the antique shop window, the oldest surviving in Port Fairy, was an erudite but hard to get book on Western District history. I have just finished two hours of fruitful reading with more to come. As another reviewer says, Ironbird Bookshop is a little bit of the real heritage of Port Fairy: tangible and intangible.

Easily one of the best bookshops in victoria. good prices, the teen section was better than collins or even online ordering. the range of books is never-ending, and the staff were lovely. bought about 7 books over a 3-day stay. will definitely go again. it was an almost magical experience, different to most bookstores. the weather really set the mood.

I am just back from yet another happy and satisfied visit to Ironbird Bookshop. It might be tiny but it's delightful. The owners, now into a second generation are knowledgeable, helpful and obliging. The existing stock is wide-ranging, along with a strong local representation of Western District titles and Port Fairy classics. The children's section has plenty of imaginative books, posters, games, toys, etc. for a great-uncle to indulge his family. (Smart gift-wrapping is a complimentary extra.) As I was waiting for my sale to be processed a father ushered in two daughters who, most gratifyingly, were excited about the prospect of a new book each. The service I really appreciate is ordering unusual titles. Ironbird is an institution, a real part of Port Fairy's heritage and an ideal use of one of the town's oldest shops.

A crap place. I gave my young daughter money to buy some books from the great second hand bookshop in town. She got confused and went to this place instead and brought two books. We went straight back but when I explained the situation to the the stony faced bloke behind the counter all I got was the monosyllabic reply “we will only swap them”

The only new bookshop in town, this one is a real gem. Cosy inside, with great kids, cooking, and general fiction section. I usually spend a good 30 minutes in here as there is always something new and different to the usual 'chain' bookstores - I've picked up some great art books during my visits. My kids love the large selection of Schleich toys, and they always insist we stop by when in town to get a new holiday board game or book. The guy who works there is very helpful, and has ordered in books for me and had them in by the end of our holiday.
