This is the reason to come to great ocean road so this place should not be missed for your trip! Absolutely stunning during sunset. Highly recommended to come around 5pm to wait for the sun to set. Lots of parking available nearby too. It’s quite windy so bring along a jacket.

For international tourists this may not be a bucket list item though the number of tour buses in the visitors centre carpark may prove me wrong even as I'm typing. But for Australians this is truly a bucket list item. Doing the Great Ocean Road is something that many aspire to - the place is like a conveyor belt in the warmer months for the grey nomads 'doing the lap'. My suggestion if you are coming from Melbourne would be to stop at Gibsons Steps first, have a gander there and then head to the 12 Apostles Visitor Centre. Now the trick is that this is actually on the inland side of the highway. It feels weird to be turning inland AWAY from where you know the famous stacks of rock are located but that's how it is. You go in, find a parking spot and then head to the visitors centre. You can actually just walk around it rather than through it and follow the path which cuts underneath the highway out to the viewing areas. At the time of writing another vantage point is under construction and it looks like it will be fabulous. Now bare in mind that there aren't actually 12 of the famous rock stacks. And they aren't all that impressive individually. What's impressive is the way the rocks have withstood the corrosive forces of nature unevenly to produce this unusual coastline. The viewing area can get crowded - the tour buses basically guarantee that - but be patient and most people will wander along and allow everyone to get their happy snaps.

Of course this is a ‘must’ when travelling the Great Ocean Road. However, it is very touristy with its enormous car park, tour buses and helicopter rides. Gibbons Steps a short drive away is much better in my opinion. Less touristy and you can actually get down onto the beach.

The Twelve Apostles are one of the great sights of the Southern Coast. The Great Coast is the place to see this Great Ocean Road. The waves crash and smash and the Twelve Apostles stand firm against the waves of the Southern Ocean. Be sure to see the Twelve Apostles, they may not be there forever.

We have always wanted to see the twelve Apostles on the great ocean road & when the chance came up we took it. The stunning view from the viewing area is amazing, but there are not 12 as with the waves crashing against the soft sandstone rock some have disappeared. This is a famous attraction and must see very windy at times so take a jumper or jacket plenty of parking.

Joined a tour with a chartered van back and forth to see The Twelve Apostles. It was an incredible experience! I would totally recommend joining a tour especially if travelling solo or visiting here for the first time! I joined Go West Tours and was lucky to have Lucy, an experienced guide, leading the tour💯

We planned a vacation in Australia with the first stop in Sydney. We stayed a week in Sydney and flew to Melbourne for a few days. We booked an excursion to visit "Twelve Apostles" with the Sightseeing Tour company. The tour was AMAZING! Our tour guide (Bert) was very knowledgeable and informative about the history and the lay of the land and every stop we made along the way. He spotted some Koalas and Kangaroos in their natural environment and stopped for the group to take pictures and take in the awesome view. The duration of the tour is about 12 hours, but it's priceless for the sites and memories that are capture and would be cherished for a lifetime.
