Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I stopped here to take some photographs and read the information that is available in this well presented memorial, during our drive along the Great Ocean Road.
It was a Monday during off peak season and there were very few people around, which is excellent.
This was our eighth holiday along the Great Ocean Road over the years. It is one of our favourite destinations in regional Victoria. This time around, we stayed at The Sands Golf Resort in Torquay for two nights.

If you’re doing or have done the GOR this is a must for a photo.
If you have time to stop for a short time, there are some lovely monuments and history to read about.
There is also a fantastic sandy beach - don’t miss the opportunity to get close (or in!) the ocean.
One day can only give you a taste for this road - you really need at least a week!

Coming towards Lorne from the Great Ocean Road this archway is amazing. You can stop on the side of the road and take photos and read some history. There is a small carpark on the other side but you are lucky to get a park due to all the buses parked there.

Apart from the 12 Apostles, the Great Ocean Road memorial archway is probably the best known point of interest along this magnificent coastline.
Having travelled along here on a few occasions and over many years, we have always seemed to stop here, as do so many other travellers.
Not just to take a snapshot or memoir, but also to view the plaques and memorials of the three arches.
The Memorial Arch was built as a tribute to the World War One servicemen and those who constructed the Great Ocean Road.
Once you cross the Painkalac Creek at the end of the little town of Aireys Inlet, the Arch is only 2 kilometres west, from there.

A memorial arch to commemorate the WWI veterans that returned home form the forntline and worked on the Great Ocean Road. There's a statue and also information to tell you the story. There's ample parking space for people to take photos etc, it sort of the the official start of the Great Ocean Road. For more stories on the building of GOR, head over to Lorne Visitor Center a there is exhibition at the back for people to to know more an understand the history behind GOR.

A very short stop over at this place. Small place that look insignificant until our tour guide, Reece from Go West, explained to us the true history behind this Memorial Arch. After that any amount of respect we pay to it will not be enough for the amount if hard work the Veterans put in.

Dozens of people stopped in the rain today when we were there to take selfies with this iconic arch for Instagram. I hope they take time to understand the profound origins and purpose of the arch and road. Humbling

Every time I see the arch, I am reminded of decades of wonderful trips under it. Seeing it again on Saturday brought back floods of warm memories. Successive photos taken of us and the arch are a great album- we change but it doesn’t
