Located on the foreshore in Apollo Bay, The Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre offers detailed information on a wide range of Great Ocean Road and Otway's attractions, tours and accommodation options. Additional visitor services include free visitor car parking, V/Line bookings, all terrain wheel chair bookings and a gift shop offering a large selection of locally crafted products such as, jewellery, food products, books, Australian made souvenirs, maps and discounted tickets for Otway Fly and Cape Otway Light station.

Conveniently located next to a carpark in Apollo Bay - and very much in the main part of town - this visitors centre does a roaring trade in tourist blah blah blah. It's Great Ocean Road city in here - grey nomad heaven.
The place does make room amongst all the merchandise to cover all the bases in terms of flyers, leaflets and general information to tell you all about your options on the road itself.
Probably best visited on a walk along the main road in town and combined with a walk along the beach.

Very helpful staff unlike our hosts at Dolphin apartments. Our hire car hit a wallaby on our way to the apostles so we had no car for 3 days and the information centre provided us with the taxi number and information on how we could get back to melbourne.

These guys are a wealth of information. I communciated with them via phone AND email prior to our trip and they we so helpful.
They recommend a private tour company as well who were so fantastic - must give them a shout out. Infact just google the name Great Oean Road Autotours and you will find them. If you do book request James as your driver. Awesome!
So if you are pre-trip or in town in person so duck into this centre and they will help plan your trip down to the last degree.

We found the centre was great if you were looking for a place to stay or a fluffy toy but we found little to help us search out the best walks in the area. We searched for ten minutes and no assistance was offered although we were the only customers.

This centre is an immersive experience... firstly they have labelled the Australian native trees on the way in and you can hear the birds being very active in the trees.
There are toilets on the way in on your right. There is car parking available. What this centre offers are ladies that clearly enjoy what they are doing! They were so much fun. And during Covid we were convinced that fun was no longer allowed...so thank god there are people like them.
If you want brochures here you will need to point out what you need because during Covid they are kept behind the counter...but that's for your safety.
It's a lovely place to stop... and if you want assistance, these are the ladies you want to speak to.

The GOR s one of those bucket list things to do. The main part goes for over 200 kms and lots of places to stop and take photos as well as beautiful little towns to fuel up the car and yourself. The people at the Information Centre were so friendly and helpful to make sure you get what you want and know where you are going. Apollo Bay is about half way along and lovely coffee shops and beach. Just do this area, you won't regret it

We found our visit to the Great Ocean Road Information Centre this morning to be both informative and helpful.
