Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A pleasant stroll though that hardly makes it a stand out given how many such nice beaches are located along the Great Ocean Road area of Victoria.

This beach has the advantage of good parking, nearby eateries, facilities and the tourist info centre is located just off the beach.

A very calm beach with small swells. Good for families. Had a great time in the water. Did some body boarding in the shallows

Beach beach (especially for kids). Enjoyed a quick swim and a walk a walk along the beach. Waves are great size for kids to play and be safe which is awesome

The Apollo Bay Beach is very easy to find, you will see it as you drive into town. If you are already in town it is across the road from the main shopping strip just past the foreshore reserve. There are plenty of diagonal parking spaces on that side of The Great Ocean Road.

I visited the beach a few times during my stay in Apollo Bay. The first time I just followed my ears in the pre-dawn darkness, the roar of the surf drew me to it. I couldn't see the water but I could see the lights of the harbour to my right, and I could feel the sand under my feet.

It is a very long beach that follows the arc of the bay. The Eastern end sits at the foot of some hills in the distance. On my second visit I took some photos of the spectacular sunrise (courtesy of some controlled burns taking place around Lorne).

Between the dunes and the Great Ocean Road there is a large lawn area with a few trees, gravel paths, a sculpture park near the Visitor's Information Centre, and I believe there is also a public barbecue there but I didn't investigate it. At the Western end, near the golf course, there is a Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse.

There is a big sculpture of seals, and a number of vertical, carved timber post-like sculptures. A timber wave sculpture on a dais marks the beginning, or end, depending on which direction you take, of the Great Ocean Walk. There is also a carved and decorated timber bench.
