Deloraines Silk art murals exceed all expectations
Unique, superb and community driven. This art work will be a historical record for ever just like the Bayeux Tapestry I saw in France which looks rather plain compared with the startling needlework in Deloraines 4 piece silk murals depicting the four seasons. The audio presentation gives details of the materials used, stitching and highlights items in the artworks. It gives an excellent overview of Deloraine done with spotlighting and professional commentary. A fantastic effort that to my knowledge is unparalled in Australia. No wonder Deloraine is the craft show mecca of Tasmania!

    Beautiful silk embroidery
Outstanding talent & workmanship - has to be seen to be believed! The work that has gone into this is nothing short of amazing. If visiting Deloraine- it's a must see. So much detail in each seasonal panel. Take your time to examine every square inch - else you miss so much!

    Worth taking a look
Beautiful tapestries depicting life and scenes around the Deloraine district. The embroidery skills are amazing! The story of the creation of the tapestries is interesting and demonstrates a great community initiative. You can stare at the four panels for ages and keep seeing new details. I think the quoll was my favourite, or maybe the wombat or the rock climbers…

Such a wonderful surprise when we were passing through Deloraine this week we felt intrigued about the Artworks in Silk. We found them at the Visitor Information Centre and what an amazing treat it was - to be seated in a very comfortable theatre and have them explained to us first, then we could go down and look at the intricate workmanship up close! The story of how many workers in silk came together to create these exquisite panels was inspiring.
Then, on the encouragement of Cara and Vicky, we went out to see the Museum of heritage buildings, machinery, homes and every day life of our early settlers. It was an excellent display and so 'full of life', one that all Tasmanian and Australian children should visit at some time for they will come away with a deeper understanding of times past.
Our thanks go to the warmly welcoming (and knowledgable) twosome Cara and Vicky!

What a wonderful visit -
Our friends took us to this exhibition . Deloraine should
be so proud of themselves as a community - this embroidery is so unbelieveable and captures the essence of the town, as well as documents how talented everyone is! The beautiful collection of old furniture, farm implements etc are so amazing too & beautiful gardens as well as a gorgeous gift shop. What a gem on our travels!

The staff were very friendly.
The Yarns Artwork in Silk display also has a Visitor Centre and Museum which we found facinating.
This stop was a great addition to our holiday in Tasmania.

The description reads; "Yarns Artwork in Silk is a large scale textile project of four quilted, soft sculpture silk panels, one for each season, drawing you into the landscapes, culture, and heritage of the Meander Valley people." Each panel represents a season and highlights associated activities and local scenes. Exquisite workmanship of 300 volunteers. The Artwork is displayed in a purpose built auditorium, great visual presentation and accompanying narrative.
Every Visitor Information throughout the State should promote this cattraction.

The artwork was absolutely stunning and the presentation was incredibly informative, with light used to highlight key parts of the artwork. Angela and Jennifer working there were also incredibly helpful with answering our questions about the Deloraine and Districts Folk Museum. A wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone traveling through the Meander Valley.

This is an astounding compilation of works by scores of different people using many different textile techniques and yet delivering a series of works that are completely one. Look deeper and there's so much more to see in the detail. Well worth visiting.

Delightful viewing of the town of Deloraine, Tasmania as seen through the eyes of the craftswomen of the town. Large panels of handstitching, machine wirk and embroidery and an excellent narrative. Women at the Visitor Centre are gorgeous, too! Well worth a visit!
