Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped at this winery expecting the usual $18 paddle and a sheet of paper with tasting notes.
This winery was different. Engaged person (sorry didn’t catch name) who talked us through the wines, encouraged me to taste new and made whole experience fun and enjoyable. Ended up buying wine which was very good and enjoyed the view, conversation and experience.

Nice location, beautiful gardens, great wines (& lots of delicious locally made wine to try). The make your own hamper platter was a great idea, especially as they don’t have a kitchen - lots of local and regional products to add, including, cheese, sticky figs (so good!), pate, salami, olives etc.
The choose your wine tasting paddle with 6 wines for $10 was very reasonable (no charge of you end up buying a couple to take home).
Loved the chickens roaming & lap blankets to keep warm on a wintery day.
It was so close to being awesome… just wish there was some heating indoors & perhaps a fire outside to make it cosy. Also some music would have given some atmosphere.
On a summers day sitting in the shade, sipping wine would be lovely.

Merchandise, paintings and cellar door. Outside area is undercover. Lovely wines. $10 tasting fee redeemable with purchase. I don’t remember seeing any food on offer.
I walked from Kingscote (3km one way) with a few little hills but totally do-able.

Though it's only open till 4pm, it's worth making the time to visit this winery. Perched on the hill top, the views from the carpark and winery are worthwhile, especially a short walk around the grounds, wine glass in hand.
The cellar staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and happy to have a chat with you whilst you taste your way through four wines. At time of visit, we purchased six bottles and received two other bottles of different vintages for free.

Tasty wines (rated better than Jacobs Creek by the Halliday scoring system), and unbelievable outlook to eat your 'build your own' platter. Staff super friendly, tasty wine and good platter options. Highly recommended!

So pleased we decided to visit Bay of Shoals. Loved our enthusiastic welcome. Staff did a fabulous job of looking after us. They have a very interesting and unusual range of wine varieties. All those we tasted were excellent. Thanks for a great experience.

Having had a lovely white wine with Dinner when on a five day holiday to KI in Jan 2022 we decided to visit this winery to buy some. a quick 1 hour visit, and we walked out with a few cartons and a nice experience even if we had to do our tastings outside sitting down. Close to Kingscote and easy to get to, I recommend a visit and a nice atmosphere

We arrived in e-bikes & our intention had been to do some wine tastings & have lunch at this winery. It is a pretty winery with beautiful views & great garden areas which showcase some old implements, boats & machinery. Nicely set up for wine tastings, & would love to have stayed for lunch, but unfortunately, did not know that platters needed to be ordered in advance. As a result we did not spend too much time here, although I’m sure that if we had pre-ordered lunch, we would have had an enjoyable time. Staff were welcoming & knowledgeable, although did not impress us as much as those involved at the previously visited Dudley Winery.

Sensational views and interesting wine. Knowledgeable cellar door. We took a six wine tasting and walked over to the picnic tables by the bay. What a view! Well worth it for that alone! Kids roamed the grounds playing with the chooks and exploring. A fantastic experience.

Stopped past at the end of the day. Very busy on a rainy school holiday day. Waited a short time for a wine barrel table. Did a tasting and bought some wine. Even on a miserable day the outlook was still nice enough. Add this to your list of places to visit. Only need less than an hour. Easy to find.
