A spectacular day out, even though it was cold and near the end of the season we saw loads of dolphins and had multiple swim's with the dolphins too. I would highly recommend this tour!

Chose this tour after researching online and wasnt disappointed. Boat was full but didnt seem overcrowded although being last on meant we were split up as a family of 3. Regular stops on the way to the Dolphon area for Andrew to inform us of the local wildlife and history of Island. When at the Dolphin relaxation zone we were split into 3 groups and had a couple of times in the water with the Dolphins ranging from 5 to 10 mins. Being wild Dolphins it was pure luck if they would swim by but Andrew puts you in a good enough to position to try and we would rather that than have a tour that entices them by food. All wetsuits and snorkles were provided which meant one less thing to carry on. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a chance to swim with actual wild Dolphins rather than trained captive ones

Wonderful experience well worth doing. Andrew very knowledgeable and accommodating to everyone on the boat. We saw so many dolphins it was incredible and it’s all done without the enticement of food just them in their natural habitat. They even seemed to enjoy swimming along side the boat. Recommend 100%. Plus Andrew stopped at points along the way to show us sea lions birds and of prey.

Brilliant experience! Andrew was knowledgeable and respectful of the dolphins and other wildlife. There were 13 people on the boat and we went in the water in small groups of 3-5. Each group got two or three turns as they chose. Every turn got time with several dolphins who were naturally inquisitive. They were not being fed or enticed in any way, we were able to observe them in their natural habitat which was wonderful. All round great adventure.

This was the highlight of our trip to Kangaroo Island. Swimming with the wild dolphins was an amazing experience - they were beautiful, curious and incredibly agile. The water was not too deep (a few meters), and cool but not cold. Don't miss this experience!!

Wow!
KIMA did not disappoint at all. The whole operation was just fantastic. I have been on many wild dolphin swims and I can happily say this has just become top of my list. Skipper Andrews knowledge and passion for these resident bottlenose dolphins was very evident and added to make the swimming experience truly magical!
You can not visit KI without visiting this beautiful curious dolphin pod, even in windy weather everyone on the boat all had incredible interactions with these wild dolphins who choose to swim with us!
Thank you so much to all the team at KIMA x

We had a fantastic experience swimming with dolphins in the wild. These are dolphins in their own environment, free to come and go as they please. They are not fed by the operators. This is a shallow bay where they relax during the day after a night of fishing. We simply swam where they are. The operator shared a lot of information about these bottle nosed dolphins which added to the experience. He provided wet suits and snorkels and offered life jackets if anyone wanted them. The dolphins swim to and away from the boat. Then repeat. Made eye contact with a number of them and a 3 week old baby dolphin swam right by me. An experience of a lifetime!

Hi I'm just looking into accomodation for our trip to KI. Do your tours depart from Kingscote? We're coming in April, how far in advance would we need to book? Thanks

Kingscote is 12 mins drive from Emu Bay. Theres no shops or places to eat at Emu Bay. Kingscote is the best place to stay there’s everything you need there inc a supermarket. Enjoy!

We have booked a tour at 9:00am. It says the tour gets back at ‘midday’ does that mean noon or 12:00pm? We’re on a tight schedule and need a better timeline. Also, what time does the sun set in January 24th? (We’re not supposed to drive after dark) thanks!

Perhaps you can arrange transportation through the company to assure yourselves that you will not be driving after dark. But, it is likely that the company has an afternoon group they will be meeting so they will not intentionally delay your return to shore after your morning expedition. Enjoy the experience and the slowed pace of being on the water for a wonderful experience.

Is there any way to do this without having a car and arriving in Penneshaw? What's the difference with the 2 Hour Dolphin Swim from Penneshaw. Do you get just as close to the dolphins?

Hi Tani ... & thanks for your question. firstly can i say we run a 3 hr dolphin swim tour (island explorer ) that allows you the time to enjoy a truly amazing experience & a good amount of time with the dolphins you just cant rush a dolphin swim the dolphins dont like it and they simply wont interact at the same level. we know this having worked with our dolphins for over 12 years. our vessel energizer is a large custom built jetboat offering plenty of room to move around or just relax in comfortable lounge type seating being a jetboat is very important to us & very safe for swimmers & our dolpins because there are no nasty propellers to swim around that could cause harm to our dolphins or swimmers & allows us to be close to you at all times whilst in the water the jets also have a more sympathetic acoustic pattern in the water of which the dolphins enjoy very much we provide all snorkeling gear hot tea / coffee & biscuits & very easy in out of water with twin rear boarding ladders, the vessel being roomy allows for multiple photo opportunities to get the best possible dolphin shots, sealink run a shuttle service to kingscote and there are a few smaller taxi operators offering transfers .... regards Andrew

Yes, you will. Our departure point was Emu Bay and you will need to drive to that. I'm not sure about public transportation since we had a car. I would also try calling these folks -- we had trouble contacting them over email as well.

We have "swum with dolphins" while snorkeling in La Parousse Bay on Maui but never got close as they were chased by some snorkels and dove at least 30 feet below us when passing by. We could hear and watch them, but from some distance. How does your experience compare with this?
