Vivonne Bay

Great little beach in south coast, easy to see why one of the best in Oz. Can grab some winds on a windy bay though, so make sure you pack a sweater.

We stayed at a house on Point Ellen overlooking Vivonne bay. Just beautiful. There's a rugged clifftop walk, a spectacular headland and a beach that's good to walk along of fish from (judging by the umber of anglers we saw). Shops and services are in short supply so stock up before you go.

The bay is stunningly beautiful. We took a lot of pictures of the sugar sand beach from the overlook/parking lot. We drove a bit farther to Point Ellen and it only got better. The Vivonne Bay store is very sparse of food, but has an interesting variety of things, good for cold drinks and mementos.

We recently spent 4 days on KI. We travelled by SeaLink Ferry to take our car and stayed for the fist night at Kingscote. Just driving from Penneshaw rather set the pace for the ensuing days, when we were "flashed" by on-coming vehicles, indicating problems ahead. Yes, water over the road. But it often is - in this part of... More

My review is really for the King George Whiting Burger. It is served inside a general store just outside Vivonne Bay. We nearly missed it. We were actually looking for a cafe. It was an Australian whom we approached to ask for direction where we can find the cafe that serves the whiting burger and he pointed to the general... More

This beach is lovely. It's not too crowded, the waters are a vibrant turquoise, but it is cold!! We went in summer. The water was a great relief from the heat but still cold! If you're visiting Kangaroo Island, it's worth stopping by

A pristine stretch of beach, no litter and no crowds. We were there in winter and saw no other travelers. So peaceful, troubles of the world seemed far away.

We were able to see our first whale here!! A mum and a baby! We were lucky and soo beautiful! Apparently they are coming to sleep here in winter! Near the road we stop to petrol station and we had very nice food! We meet Michelle , the owner that told us to go to see the whales!

Unfortunately, we were there in the winter time however, it was just breathtaking and we can only image how beautiful it would be during summertime! We will re-visit!!!
