Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This area is about 4 minutes drive from Kingscote main street and is worth the visit. A very beautiful and peaceful area with a lot of history related to both the island and South Australia. Search out the mulberry tree. If you are here late afternoon, treat yourself to a fantastic view of the sunset.

Reeves Point is a hidden gem of Kingscote Kangaroo Island 🏝 We went here for a walk. There’s a decent walking trail and you can also climb to the top of Flagstaff Hill. Beautiful views to be seen from here. We also drove through here with our car. Saw a few joggers whilst we were there both times.

A most stop on a trip to Kangaroo Island. The site of the first European settlement in South Australia has walking t racks with interactive signage showing where the buildings were first built and the importance of the old mulberry tree. Check out the site at the top of Flagstaff Hill monument, which also has great views.

This area of KI was chosen as the first site to settle for South Australia back in 1836. The settlers tried hard but for various reasons, water being a major one, the settlement was moved to the mainland. It is a fascinating area that includes the ruins of the original jetty, historic cemetery, great lookout from Flagstaff Hill and a Mulberry Tree that has survived from 1837 & still flourishes today ! Has walking trails, picnic & shaded areas & WC's. Well worth an exploration in Kingscote.

Walked here taking in the views along the way. There is so much history here and it is well explained. Initially came up for an evening walk but stayed till sunset as the views are amazing.

Walk up the hill past the hospital to the spectacular lookout point over Bay of Shoals, then down the hill to the historic Reeves Point, site of first settlement on KI from the SA colonial fleet....explore the old Mulberry Tree, use the free BBQ shelters and playground and - highly recommended - take a walk past the bird hide and out on 'The Spit' to look back to the township and maybe glimpse local dolphins, rays and of course bird life

For those feeling energetic, take a walk or jog along the track to the boat ramp, then up and around the Bay of Shoals winery, past the cemetery and back along the top of the hill to complete a 3km circuit

Visiting here you learn so much about the first settlers to arrive in South Australia, how they lived, what they brought with them and what life was life here for them. And if that doesn't interest you, then the views surely should, because they are spectacular.

It's a walking trail which will take you to beautiful spots. The old cemetery is so interesting and gives you the history of KI on the grave stones. It was a walk up to the monument but well worth it with beautiful views.

Eye opening walk. Take your time and breath in the eye opening, sometimes deeply sad, history conveyed in the cemetery tombstone and society plaques.
