About
Established in 1878, Knappstein is housed in the heritage-listed Enterprise winery in the heart of the Clare Valley. Our winemakers act as guardians of the vines, and caretakers of the wines. Their attention to detail and stringent quality focus are at the heart of our winemaking approach. The style of our wines has naturally evolved into more medium-bodied, fruit-driven wines, that are inviting in their youth, yet also sophisticated with age. We are proud to be an important part of the well-known wine making history in the Clare Valley. Having some of the best vineyards in the region, we are dedicated to a 'distinguished vineyards' philosophy. The cellar door and winery still operate in Clare from the original Enterprise Brewery building

We have visited this cellar door several times over the years. This time was their first day in their newly expanded tasting room. Lovely space, friendly service and a large range of very good wines. Overall a great tasting. experience

We had gift vouchers for the "Let's get blended" experience at Knappstein Wines. Blending Cab Sav and Shiraz. It was fun.
Maddie looked after us and she was fantastic. Gave us a guided tour of the Cellars and told us about their history which was fascinating. Also got to taste as many of their wines that we wanted to.
It was a great and fun morning with some nice wines and interstate information. Thoroughly recommend the experience.

A relaxed atmosphere with an impressive range of Clare Valley wines. Excellent Riesling, ranging from a very drinkable CV Riesling to the superb single vineyard Ackland Watervale Riesling. Award winning single vineyard Enterprise Cabernet Sauvignon and a multiple Gold Medal winning Shiraz

A long time feature of Clare and one of only 2 wineries in the town area. Well worth a visit. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Good range of good quality wines available for tasting and purchase. Well worth a visit.

While in Clare Valley recently we visited the Knappstein Winery.
It was on our list to visit as we had had their wines in the past.
Situated in the main st the old building really stood out, once inside the history really was amazing as it was originally a brewery in its early days.
Some old distillery boilers with a story greeted us.
The cellar door was very cosy with an open fire going.
We meet Sharon who presented us with some amazing wines including the fortified shiraz.
On that day we were able to visit the cellar underneath the building with Dean (sorry if I've got the name wrong) who gave us a wonderful insight into the history and how
The work was performed in the old days. Even gave us an unmarked bottle of possibly
Riesling ( haven't open ours yet)
Really impressed by the friendly staff that work there.
A must visit winery if your in Clare Valley.

Quick stop in the way through. Had to pick only a couple of cellar doors to check and glad we stopped here. Nice wines and the lager on tap was refreshing.

In the center of town in a historical building that has been modernized to make for an educational wine tasting experience, Knappstien was made enjoyable by a great product range on offer with helpful and friendly staff.

We went to the cellar door this afternoon, 10 minutes before closing. We stood there waiting for a few minutes before the young lady said hello. We asked if we still had time for a quick taste and she said it was fine. Here's our experience: she poured the wines with just simple words, with this was Riesling or Shiraz, no a word of wine information, no a word of conversation, standing right in front of us just dead awkward silence. I was trying to get to know the wines by reading the back label. Then I realised the Riesling was opened on 30th Aug, 5 DAYS OLD. Shock. I asked her how long do you normally keep your wines to serve and she said 3-4 days. Shock X2. To those who made all the effort to go to Clare, what a way to represent the brand.

This cellar door is conveniently close to the town of Clare. There is a great selection of wines to taste. It is worth joining their wine club which we did and ordered a large selection. They also have great promotion wines. The person who served us was very friendly and professional. Would recommend this winery,.
