Great crew. Easy diving . Well looked after. Booked dive at short notice, easy process online , efficient communication updates by text and email to confirm booking , and subsequently confirmation of weather and dive the day before. Took own equipment except tanks and weights. Tanks individually labeled for each diver, including second tank on boat. Crew remember names of divers.

Simply stunning sunrise scuba dive with Scuba World, for a quick morning visit to the ex-HMAS Brisbane Wreck just before work!!
Exceptional facilities, notification of the dive going ahead via SMS, upon arrival a no fuss sign in procedure (you sign a boat waiver which lasts a year)
The set up is neat and orderly, with your tank labeled with your name, (you request wether you would like steel or aluminum when booking your dive) there are x2 change cubicles, and a safe place to leave your gear, assistance is given should you require any. As it was a small group we were told who our leader and dive buddy would be. We then grabbed our gear and with a short walk to the boat, slotted our tanks into the middle of the boat, and stowed our snorkel, fins and mask in the cubby hole beneath our seat. We chose the weights we needed from a box on the mooring, and after a safety brief from the skipper Kev, off we went!
Clear, calm, stunning morning with the sun coming up over the horizon as we left the ‘harbor’ entrance.
A spectacular dive, lead by relaxed Leila, 18m visibility, no currents and teaming with marine life, ended with skipper Kev helping us back onboard, after climbing one of the two fin friendly ladders, a warm cup of tea and delicious Anzac biscuit. A short boat trip back to excellent clean facilities to rinse, wash and hang your gear, choice of a warm shower, or x2 cold showers and head upstairs to document your dive, gather your gear and head off to work!! What a perfect way to start the day!!
Thank you to all the wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and kind staff at Scuba World.

Thankyou so much for your thorough and kind review. Indeed it was an epic dive! I was there for a fun dive that morning and remember lying on my back looking up to the surface to see the sunlight lighting up the millions of baitfish like twinkling stars. And best of all, extending my dive to the last minute mesmerized by all the pelagic action. Kev is a great skipper and rounds out the experience as our local barista. We look foward to seeing you again. Thanks :-) Shara

The whole experience of diving the ex-HMAS Brisbane with Scuba World was impressively organised. The process of getting geared up was very efficient but not rushed, and the safety and pre-dive briefings on the boat were by far the most organised, thorough and well-delivered that we've ever had. It was all very impressive. Thanks Scuba World, would definitely dive with you again.

Despite being a former scuba instructor these fools would not take me out for a dive on the HMAS Brisbane because I weigh over 115Kg. Apparently it is a 'safety issue' as it would require more than one person to deadlift me from the boat. I guess they never thought of asking someone for help them in that situation!

No matter though. I took a trip with their far more competent competitors SUNREEF who were an extremely professional outfit who I would highly recommend. I had a great experience with them and a fantastic couple of dives on the wreck. I plan to take my family back to dive on the HMAS Brisbane next week - but of course we won't be diving with these fools.

Hi Glenn, Thank you for your feedback, it helps us understand our customers experience and feelings. However it would have been nice of you to call first before writing a review. You are 100% correct, we do have a body weight limit in place of 115kg on our vessel. As you never booked a dive with us, you never received a full explanation of the reason why we have a 115kg limit. I have knocked back quite a few divers over the years and up until now, they have all understood the reason for this. I normally contact the person and talk to them, it's a shame I do not have your contact details to explain over the phone. There are many experiences around the world that have a weight limit for safety purposes. Skydiving, bungee jumping, zip lines to name a few. Although most scuba diving operators do not have a weight limit, we feel as though there should be. We have a duty of care and responsibility above all else to ensure all our customers are SAFE. We have run tests with divers (acting unconscious) who are 120-130kg to try to get them back in our boat, and the way our vessel is configured it simply cannot be done without a mechanical winch, which we do not have room for. All boats are different and each operation should run their own tests. We based the test on a few things: 1. A maximum of 2 people available to lift. One being the lookout and the second being the buddy of the unconscious diver. You cannot assume you have 3/4+ people to help as they could all be diving and take too long to get back. 2. The area where our divers get back into the boat is quite narrow and only allows for a max of 2 people to lift. 3. The diver is dead weight (no assistance from them whatsoever) 4. We had to get them in the boat within 3 mins to ensure we can start O2/AED and CPR treatment to ensure they have the best chance of survival. I understand you are an ex-instructor, so you would be well aware of the increased risk of heart attacks and decomposition sickness when overweight divers breathe compressed air underwater. I understand the risk to our business is very minor in frequency, however it would be irresponsible of me to allow any divers into the water who we could not get out in time (if they were unconscious) to provide 1st Aid. It is a tough position to be in, because I love taking people diving and I know we provide an exceptional customer experience, however SAFETY has always been our #1 PRIORITY. I'm sorry we could not take you diving, however I would rather turn you away (and be labled a fool) then call your loved ones and tell them we could not provide the most effective CRP/O2/AED procedures because we could not get you out of the water in time. I'm glad you were able to get a dive with Sunreef, they also provide a fantastic customer experience, we work in well with them. They have a different vessel configuration, and I'm sure they have run similar tests. I hope you enjoy your dive with your family. I would really appreciate a call to discuss this over the phone 0754445895. You may have an idea/procedure that we have not trialed? We did our Open Water course with Scuba World and had the absolute best experience. Our instructor Terry was patient and so easily to learn from he made the experience! I had some troubles with one of the exercises and Terry organised some extra 1:1 training to get me over the line, without having this support I may have not got my course finished. The whole crew were welcoming and encouraging, organised and felt like a well oiled machine. We have since done an extra dive with them outside of our course and can’t recommend getting out and diving HMAS Brisbane. We look forward to all the upcoming dives we have planned with Scuba World!!! Thank you guys

The weather didn't look very good for diving but when we reached the reef we where pleasantly surprised. Visibility was at least 25 m, so clear, did 3 fantastic dives, one a drift dive, because of the current. Captain Kevin and Dive Guides Chris and Torrie where so accommodating, giving us the best experience ever, so friendly and helpful. Thanks so much for a truly fabulous day. Cheers Lynn

Hi Lynn, We're so glad you enjoyed your trip to Flinders Reef. Both Chris & Tori were saying what incredible visibility you had that day so we were thrilled the weather held out and we were able to get you out to experience the amazing dive sites that Flinders offers. We look forward to having you on board again in the future. Happy diving! Caitlin - Scuba World

Friendly and accommodating staff.
They were helpful in getting kitted up and informative about the dive site. They were diligent in doing their safety and dive briefs and attentive to customer's needs. The dive boat was spacious and the staff prepared snacks and hot drinks for the surface interval between dives. The boat had fresh water to rinse off after the dive,

It was a thoroughly enjoyable dive and I would love to go for it again

Thanks Ben! We greatly appreciate you sharing your experience with others. You can look forward to our upcoming winter ex-HMAS wreck menu. This sees the addition of hot gourmet soup to the cappucino's, mocha's, hot chocolates, danishes and anzac bikkies. It's a nice little creature comfort to accompany epic winter surface conditions and visibility.

My wife bought me 2 dives for a Xmas present. After nearly 10 years of no diving I was a little anxious.
Scuba World were such a professional outfit- did a refresher pool dive and then on the day was buddied with similar skilled divers and an employee who acted as our dive tour guide. Could not have been happier with every aspect of the trip. I won't be waiting 10 years till my next trip.

I did my open water diving course with Scuba World and I can’t praise them high enough. I was frightened on my first ocean dive and I did it one month later following more coaching and reassurance I completed my 4 dives and I just love it. Special thanks to Terry Van Stroe for his patience and reassurance. Thanks to Mike and the rest of the team for providing a professional and safe place to learn.
I am now so excited about my diving future
